When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sa
17、mple shall be subjected to first article inspection, (See 6.3). 3.2 Material. Materials shall conform to the referenced specifications and the requirements specified herein. 3.2.1 Cloth, muslin, cotton. The cotton muslin shall conform to Type I, II or III, of A-A-50155 or Type II, Class 2, Style B o
18、f CCC-C-430. The cloth shall be dyed scarlet to match Cable No. 65006 of the Standard Color Reference ofAmerica, United States Army Color Card and shall have good fastness to weathering when tested as specified in 4.3.1. * 3.2.2 Thread, cotton. The thread for stitching shall be cotton conforming to
19、Type 1, Ticket No. 50, 3 ply of A-A-52094. The thread ahall be dyed scarlet to match Cable No. HL 67111 of the DOD Standard Color Card of Official Standardized shade5 for Heraldic Yarns. specified in A-A-52094. The thread shall show good fastness to weathering when tested as 3.2.3 Thread, Spun Polye

The metallic grommets shall conform to Ty
21、pe I, Class 1, Trade size 1 of MIL-G-16491 See MS20230 (ASG). 3.3 Construction. 3.3.1 Hems. The four sides of the flag shall be hemmed with 1-3/4 inches 2 1/8 inch (4.45 cm 5 0.32 cm) wide hem having a 3/8 inch (0.95 cm) turned edge and stitching 1/16 inch (0.16 cm) from inside the turned edge. The

The stitches and stitching shall conform to stitch type 3
23、01 and stitching type EFb-1 of FED-STD-751 with 10 to 14 stitches per inch. Thread breaks in stitching shall be backstitched not less than 1 inch (2.54 cm) at each break. Stitching shall be backstitched not less than 1/2 inch (1.27 cm at: the ende, except where ends are turned under in a hem or held
24、 down by other. stitching. Thread tension shall be maintained so there will be no loose stitching and the lock will be embedded in the materials sewed. All threads shall be trimmed. 3.3.3 Size. The finished flag shallmeasure 18 inches (45.72 cm) long by 18 inches (45.72 cm) wide, with a tolerance of

Preservation shall be,level A or Commercial, as specified (see 6.2). 5.1.1 Level A. 5.1.1.1 Unit Dackaqinq. Each flag shall be folded into an approximatel
37、y 9 inch (22.86 cm) square. Ten folded flags shall then be neatly stacked and placed in a snug fitted transparent polyethylene bag. The polyethylene film shall be not lesa than 0.0015 inch (0.0381 cm) thick. All seams and closures shall be affected by heat sealing and excess air within the bag shall
38、 be expelled before sealing. 5.1.2 Commercial. Flag shall be preserved and packaged in accordance with the applicable requirements of ASTM-D-3951. 5.2 Packinq. Packiiig shall be level B r commercial as specified (Bee 6.2). 5.2.1 Level B. Fifty unit packages (500 lags) packaged as specified in 5.1.1
39、shall be packed in a snug-fitting shipping container conforming to Style RSC, Type CF or SF, class weather-resistant, variety SW, gifades V3S or W5S of PPP-B-636. Unitized loads, commensurate with the level of packing specified in the contract or order, shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load t

45、d use. Flags covered by this specification are intended to be used on vehicles transporting explosives or other hazardous cargo. 6.2 ficauisition reuuirements. Acquisition documents must specify the following: a. Title, number and date of this specification. b, Issue of DODISS to be cited in the sol
46、icitation, and if required, the specific issue of individual documents referenced (see 2.1). c. When first article is required (See 3.1). d. Selection of application levels of packaging and packing (See 5.1 and 5.2). 6.3-First article. When first article inspection is required, the contracting offic
47、er should provide specific article test results and disposition of first articles. The invitations for bids should provide that the Government reserves the right to waive the requirement for samples for first article inspection to those bidders offering a product which has been previously acquired o
48、r tested by the Government, and that bidders offering such products, who wish to rely on such production or tests, must furnish evidence with the bid that prior Government approval is presently appropriate for the pending contract. 6.4 Chanaes from previous issue.
