1、Designation: A 579/A 579M 04a (Reapproved 2009)Standard Specification forSuperstrength Alloy Steel Forgings1This standard is issued under the fixed designation A 579/A 579M; the number immediately following the designation indicates the yearof original adoption or, in the case of revision, the year
2、of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers requirements for forged steelshapes for highly stressed structural members requiring yiel
3、dstrengths in excess of 140 ksi 965 MPa.1.2 This specification is not intended for applications lim-ited by creep deformation.1.3 Twenty-seven grades are covered by this specification.Selection will depend upon design, service conditions, andmechanical properties required.1.4 Supplementary requireme
4、nts are provided for use whenadditional testing or inspection is desired. These shall applyonly when specified individually by the purchaser in the order.1.5 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be
