、Designation: A 827/A 827M 02 (Reapproved 2007)Standard Specification forPlates, Carbon Steel, for Forging and Similar Applications1This standard is issued under the fixed designation A 827/A 827M; the number immediately following the designation indicates the yearof original adoption or, in the case
、 of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This speci
、fication covers carbon steel plates, forgingquality, intended for forging, quenching-and-tempering, andsimilar applications in which uniformity of composition andfreedom from injurious imperfections are important.1.2 The plates are available in six grades, or chemicalcompositions.1.3 When the steel
、is to be welded, it is presupposed that awelding procedure suitable for the grade of steel and intendeduse or service will be utilized. See Appendix X3 of Specifica-tion A 6/A 6M for information on weldability.1.4 The values stated in either inch-pound or SI units are tobe regarded as standard. With
、in the text, the SI units are shownin brackets. The values stated in each system are not exactequivalents; therefore, each system must be used indepen-dently of the other. Combining values from the two sytemsmay result in nonconformance with the specification.2. Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standard
