1、Designation: A 879/A 879M 06Standard Specification forSteel Sheet, Zinc Coated by the Electrolytic Process forApplications Requiring Designation of the Coating Mass onEach Surface1This standard is issued under the fixed designationA 879/A 879M; the number immediately following the designation indica

2、tes the yearof original adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification covers zinc coatings ap

3、plied by theelectrolytic process to hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel sheet. The coating has a smooth, spangle-free surface. The zinc-coated sheet covered in this specification is produced in a widerange of coating masses to provide coatings that are compatiblewith the anticipated service life require

4、d. The coating massvaries, from very thin coatings that are usually painted toprovide good service, to relatively heavy masses that providegood corrosion resistance in the bare (unpainted) condition.1.2 The product shall be coated on one or both surfaces withequal or differential coating masses on t

5、he two surfaces. Sheetcoated with equal coating masses on each surface has similarlevels of corrosion protection on each surface. Often, however,a higher level of corrosion protection is required on one surfacethan is required on the other. Thus one surface is specified tohave a heavier coating mass

6、 than the other. Either surface, when specified to be painted will provide additional corrosionprotection as compared to an unpainted surface.1.3 This coating process has essentially no effect on the basemetal mechanical properties and use is permitted on any gradeof hot- or cold-rolled steel sheet.

7、The coated sheet is availableas Commercial Steel (CS), Drawing Steel (DS), Deep DrawingSteel (DDS), Extra-Deep Drawing Steel (EDDS), StructuralSteel (SS), High-Strength Low-Alloy Steel (HSLAS), High-Strength Low-Alloy Steel with Improved Formability(HSLAS-F), Solution-Hardened Steel (SHS), or Bake-H

This method is readilyadaptable to the continuous monitoring of coating mass duringcoating. Thus moder

These devices may be used as abasis for determining suitability for shipment provided thatthey have been calibrated properly.5.2.3 Measurement by Coulometric Method (see
