Scope1.1 This specification covers aluminum 1350H1

3、9 (extrahard) round wire for electrical purposes.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound or SI units are to beregarded separately as standard. The values in each system arenot exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be usedindependently of the other. Combining values from the twosystems may resu

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This

9、Standard:3.1.1 lota group of production units, up to 30 000 lb15 000 kg of mass, of one type and size of wire, which wasproduced during the same time period, under similar produc-tion conditions, and is presented for acceptance at the sametime (Explanatory Note 1 and Note 2).3.1.2 production unita c

Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:4.1.1 Quantity of each size,4.1.2 Wire size (see 11.1 and Table 1 or Table 2),4.1.3 Special tension test, if required (see 7.2 and 7.3),4.1.4 Frequency of bending test (see 8.1 and 14.5

Materials and Manufacture5.1 The aluminum wire shall be made from drawing stockmeeting the requirement

Workmanship, Finish and Appearance6.1 The wire shall be free of imperfections not consistentwith good commercial practice.7. Tensile Properties7.1 Tensile Strength and ElongationThe wire shall con-form to the tensi

17、le strength and elongation requirements setforth in Table 1 or Table 2 (Explanatory Note 3).7.2 When requested by the purchaser, tension tests shall bemade of specimens of wire containing joints made in thedrawing stock or in the wire prior to final drawing. Such testsshall indicate tensile strength

18、s not less than 90 % of the valuesfor individual tests shown in Table 1 or Table 2.7.3 When requested by the purchaser, tension tests ofspecimens containing joints in the finished wire, or in the finaldrawing, if permitted, shall be made. Such tests shall indicatetensile strengths to be not less tha

19、n 11.0 ksi 145 MPa forelectric-butt welded joints, and not less than 21.0 ksi 75 MPafor cold-pressure welded joints and electric-butt, cold-upsetwelded joints.8. Bending Properties8.1 The wire shall be free of brittleness as evidenced by itsability to be coiled or looped around its own diameter with

20、 orwithout a mandrel. No fracture shall occur. Slight surfacechecks shall not constitute cause for rejection.9. Resistivity9.1 The electrical resistivity shall not exceed the valuesshown in Table 3 (Explanatory Note 4).10. Density10.1 For the purpose of calculating linear density, crosssection, and

21、so forth, the density of aluminum 1350 shall betaken as 2705 kg/m30.0975 lb/in.3 at 20C 68F.11. Diameter11.1 The diameter of the wire shall be specified in inches tothe nearest 0.0001 in. or the diameter of the wire shall bespecified in millimetres to the nearest 0.001 mm for wires lessthan 1.000 mm

22、 in diameter, and to the nearest 0.01 mm forwires 1.00 mm in diameter and larger. The actual wire diametershall not vary from the specified diameter by more than thevalues shown in Table 4.12. Joints12.1 No joints shall be made in the finished wire except asprovided in 12.2. Joints may be made in th

23、e drawing stock andin the wire prior to final drawing and shall be in accordancewith good commercial practice.12.2 If agreed upon between the manufacturer and thepurchaser, joints may be made during the final drawing or inthe finished wire by electric-butt welding, cold-pressure weld-ing, or electri

33、alues for aluminum conductivities were derived from these by multiplying by the reciprocal of the conductivityratios and, where applicable, also by the density ratios, both accurate to at least seven significant figures.B 230/B 230M 07212.2.1 For wire sizes from 0.0100 to 0.0555 in. 0.225 to1.25 mm

34、in diameter not more than three such joints shall bepresent in any coil, reel, or spool of the specified nominal mass.12.2.2 For wire sizes greater than 0.0500 in. 1.25 mmdiameter, not more than 10 % of the coils, reels, or spools shallcontain such joints, and no such joint shall be closer than 50 f

35、t15 m to another joint or to either end of the wire. Not morethan two such joints shall be present in any coil, reel or spoolof the specified nominal mass.13. Sampling13.1 SamplingFour test specimens shall be obtained, onefrom each of four production units (Explanatory Note 1)orinaccordance with the

36、 statistical sampling methods as prescribedby Specification B 830.14. Test Methods14.1 DiameterMeasure the diameter of each specimenwith a micrometer caliper graduated in 0.0001-in. incrementsor measure the diameter of each specimen with a micrometercaliper graduated in minimum 0.005 mm increments f

37、or wiresless than 1.00 mm in diameter, or minimum 0.01-mm incre-ments for wires 1.00 mm in diameter and larger. Take twomeasurements at one point, with the second measurementacross the cross-sectional diameter 90 rotated from the firstmeasurement. Average the two measurements to obtain thespecimen d

38、iameter. Should the measured diameter of anyspecimen vary from the specified diameter by an amountgreater than the tolerance permitted by Table 4, the lot shall beconsidered to not meet diameter requirements.14.2 FinishMake a visual surface finish inspection withthe unaided eye (corrective lenses ex

39、cepted). The surface finishshall meet the requirements of 6.1. Should any specimen befound unacceptable, the lot shall be considered to not meetsurface finish requirements.14.3 Tensile strength and elongation may be determinedsimultaneously. Obtain the tensile strength, in accordance withTest Method

40、s B 557 or B 557M, by dividing the maximumload resisted by the tensile specimen by the original cross-sectional area of the specimen, with the tensile stress to beexpressed in ksi MPa. Elongation is the percent increase inlength of the tensile test specimen as measured between gagemarks originally s

41、paced 10 in. 250 mm apart on the speci-men. Elongation measurements are not required for wires0.0500 in. 1.25 mm in diameter. Should any part of thefracture take place outside the elongation gage lines, or ifexamination of the tensile specimen indicates a flaw, the valuesobtained may not be represen

42、tative and a test on anothersection of the specimen may be run (Explanatory Note 6).14.4 Determine the electrical resistivity in accordance withTest Method B 193.14.5 Test ResultsA numerical average for the tensilestrength, elongation, and resistivity of the four specimens shallbe calculated and sha

43、ll be considered the lot average.14.6 Conformance CriteriaTo be considered in conform-ance, the lot average test results shall meet the average for a lotrequirements of Table 1 or Table 2 and Table 3, and the testresults of each specimen shall meet the individual testsrequirements of Table 1 or Tabl

44、e 2 and Table 3 unless otherwisespecified.14.6.1 If the lot average results are in conformance, and allof the individual specimen results are in conformance, the lotshall be considered in conformance.14.6.2 If the lot average result for one or more of the testedproperties is not in conformance and o

45、ne or more of theindividual specimen results is also not in conformance, the lotshall be considered not in conformance.14.6.3 If the lot average results are in conformance, but oneor more of the individual specimen results are not in conform-ance, the lot shall be considered in conformance except th

46、at theproduction unit or units represented by the non-conformingspecimen or specimens shall be rejected.14.6.4 If the lot average results for one or more of the testedproperties is not in conformance, but all the individual speci-men results are in conformance, then additional test specimensand test

47、s shall be required as follows:14.6.4.1 An additional six test specimens shall be obtained,one each from six production units other than the fouroriginally sampled. Tests shall be run on the six additionalspecimens, and a numerical average of the ten tested specimensshall be calculated and considere

48、d the lot average.14.6.4.2 If the ten specimen lot average results are inconformance, and all ten of the individual specimen results arein conformance, the lot shall be considered in conformance.14.6.4.3 If the ten specimen lot average results for one ormore of the tested properties are not in confo

49、rmance, or if oneor more of the ten individual specimen results are not inconformance, the lot shall be considered not in conformance.14.6.5 In the event a lot is rejected in accordance with14.6.2 or 14.6.4.3, production units making up that lot may beindividually tested. Acceptance of individual production unitsfrom a rejected lot shall be dependent on the individualspecimen test results meeting the average for a lot requirementsof Table 1 or Table 2 and Table 3.14.7 Bending (Brittleness)Specimens from any produc-tion u
