1、Designation: B 682 01 (Reapproved 2009)Standard Specification forStandard Metric Sizes of Electrical Conductors1This standard is issued under the fixed designation B 682; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of

2、last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers and prescribes the recom-mended standard metric sizes of solid round electrical conduc-tors.

3、1.2 This specification prescribes the recommended standardmetric size designations of stranded electrical conductors (seeExplanatory Note 1).NOTE 1Physical properties, construction requirements, and manufac-turing tolerances for specific products should be included in individualproduct specification

4、s developed in accordance with appropriate sizes inthis specification.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measurement are included in thisstandard.1.3.1 Exceptions For conductor sizes designated byAWG or kcmil, the requirements in SI units have beennume

5、rically converted from corresponding values, stated orderived, in inch-pound units. For conductor sizes designated bySI units only, the requirements are stated or derived in SI units.Rounded values appear in Table 1.2. The pr

Standard Rules for Rounding5.1 All calculations for dimensions and properties, otherthan as provided in Section 4, shall be rounded in the finalvalues only, in accordance with the rounding method ofPractice E29.6. Tolerances9.1 Stand

28、ard dimensions are given in Table 1 and Table 2.This standard is not concerned with quantitative values oftolerances per se, but it is contemplated that the standard wireand stranded-conductor sizes in Table 1 and Table 2, and theproperties derived therefrom, shall be subject to tolerances asindicat

31、ification is to provide logical geo-metrically progressive series of sizes for guidance to individuals andorganizations preparing hard metric specifications for all types of roundwire and stranded electrical conductors. The preferred sizes have beenestablished to avoid proliferation of non-preferred

The use ofmetric sizes will depend upon commercial factors, and their existencedoes not render obsolete existing specifications with inch-pound units asstandard.
