Scope1.1 This specification covers lead sheet, strip, and plate ofvarious alloys intended for use in chemical plants, sou

3、ndattenuation, roofing, vibration dampening, flashing andweather stripping, waterproofing, and radiation shielding.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyan

Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 lot, nshall consist of all the lead sheet, strip, or plateof the same alloy produced by one manufacturer and offeredfor delivery a

8、t one time for sampling and inspection from onemanufacturing or smelting heat.3.1.2 plate, nany product over 0.187 in. (4.75 mm) inthickness and over 10 in. (254 mm) in width.3.1.3 sheet, nproducts 0.187 in. (4.75 mm) and under inthickness and 24 in. (610 mm) or more in width.3.1.4 strip, nany produ

Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material to this specification shall include thefollowing information:4.1.1 Alloy (chemical composition) with variations speci-fied.4.1.2 Type (strip, sheet, or plate).4.1.3 Cond

Materials and Manufacture5.1 The lead sheet, strip, or plate shall be manufactured byrolling or extruding the product from a lead work piece ofchemical composition specified in Table 1 or oth

13、er specifiedcomposition. 16、o thedesired thickness.6. Chemical Composition6.1 Lead sheet, strip, and plate shall conform to the chemi-cal composition limits specified in the purchase order. Theappropriate ASTM or UNS alloy may be designated whereapplicable. Table 1 lists the chemical requirements of severalgrades of lead for i

17、nformation purposes.NOTE 1Soft lead sheet, strip, and plate is generally produced fromSpecification B29grade copper-bearing lead.6.2 If a product (check) analysis is performed by thepurchaser, the material shall conform to the product analysisvariation in chemical composition specified in the purcha

18、seagreement or in the applicable alloy specification.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 The material shall conform to the mechanical propertiesspecified in the purchase order by way of testing (see Section12).8. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations8.1 Thickness:8.1.1 Sheet and StripFor sheet and st

19、rip up to 0.100 in.(2.54 mm), the variation in thickness shall not be more than+0.008 in. (0.200 mm) or 0.006 in. (0.130 mm) or anycombination but not less than a range of 0.014 in. (0.330 mm)from the ordered thickness. For sheet and strip ordered inthickness over 0.100 in., the maximum variation sh

20、all not bemore than 65 % of the thickness specified as shown in Table2.8.1.2 PlateThe plate shall not vary more than 65%ofthe specified thickness as shown in Table 2.8.1.3 Alternative ThicknessWhen specified, lead plate, aswell as strip sheet over 0.100 in. (2.54 mm) shall not vary inthickness by mo

21、re than +0.031 in. (0.79 mm) and 0 in. (0mm).8.1.4 Where specified and agreed to between manufacturerand purchaser, thickness variation looser or tighter than listedabove may be applied.8.2 Width and Length:8.2.1 Rollslead sheet or strip in rolls shall not vary fromthe ordered width by more than +0.

22、250 in. (6.35 mm) or0.250 in. (6.35 mm) and for length of 25 ft (8 m) or less shallbe within 0.2 % of the ordered length. For length greater than25 ft (8 m), the length tolerance shall be negotiated between theproducer and the buyer.8.2.2 Cut PiecesLead sheet, strip, or plate in flat cutpieces shall

23、 not vary from the ordered length or width by morethan 60.125 in. (3.18 mm).8.2.3 Slit StripSlit strip in coils shall not vary from theordered width by more than 0.062 in. (1.59 mm).8.3 Straightness:8.3.1 The edgewise curvature (depth of curvature) of flatstrip, sheet, or plate shall not exceed 0.05

24、 in. multiplied by thelength in feet of the piece (0.04 mm multiplied by the length incentimeters).8.3.2 Straightness of coiled strip material is subject toagreement between manufacturer and purchaser.8.4 SquarenessFor products of all thickness, the anglebetween adjacent sides shall be 90 6 15 (116

25、in. in 24 in.),(1.59 mm in 610 mm). Alternatively, for cut length 10 ft (3 m)and less, the length of the diagonals from end to end shall bewithin 0.25 in. (6.2 mm) of each other.8.5 FlatnessFlatness of the product sheet when specifiedshall be as agreed upon between manufacturer and purchaser.TABLE 1

33、between manufacturer andpurchaser.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The lead products shall be uniform in quality andhardness, smooth, commercially straight and flat, and free ofinjurious imperfections such as pits, dents, scratches, lamina-tions, grit, foreign matter, porosity, or waves tha

34、t may affect theserviceability of material.10. Sampling10.1 A lot shall not exceed 10 000 lb (4540 kg). A lot foralloys requiring mechanical testing shall be further limited tothe sheet having the same total material reduction and heattreatment (as required) cycles from the same manufacturing orsmel

35、ting heat.10.1.1 IdentificationAll material shall be identified by lotnumber. Where material cannot be identified by heat, a lot shallconsist of not more than 1000 lb (454 kg) in the same thicknessand condition, except for plates weighing over 1000 lb, inwhich case the one piece shall constitute the

36、 lot.10.2 Test Material Selection:10.2.1 Chemical AnalysisRepresentative samples shall betaken either during pouring the casting prior to working orduring subsequent processing, such as rolling or cutting.10.2.1.1 Where required, a product (check) sample shall betaken and supplied to the purchaser.

37、The analysis of the productsample is the responsibility of the purchaser.10.2.2 Mechanical PropertiesSamples of the material toprovide test specimens for mechanical properties, hardness,and grain size shall be taken from such locations in a lot as tobe representative of that lot.10.3 Number of Tests

38、:10.3.1 Chemical AnalysisOne test per lot.10.3.2 HardnessOne test per lot.10.3.3 Grain SizeOne test per lot.11. Specimen Preparation11.1 Tension test specimens, if required, shall be taken inthe direction of rolling from the material in the final conditionof rolling and heat treatment or in the case

39、 of continuously castsheet in the casting direction and “as cast” state.11.1.1 Tension test specimens shall be any of the standard orsubsize specimens shown in Test Methods E8.11.2 Hardness test specimens if required shall be taken fromthe material in the final condition of rolling and heat treatmen

40、t.Tests shall use Rockwell “R” scale or 10 mm ball and 100 kgload Brinell test.11.2.1 The minimum thickness of a sample for hardnesstesting shall be 10 times the depth of the impression. Allhardness tests must be obtained within 24 h after the finalprocessing for use.12. Test Methods12.1 The followi

41、ng test methods for determining chemicalcomposition, mechanical properties, and other properties of thematerial shall be determined in cases of disagreement inaccordance with the following methods:12.1.1 Chemical AnalysisMethods E37and E87.12.1.2 TensionTest Methods E8.12.1.3 Hardness:12.1.3.1 Rockw

42、ell “R” and Test Methods E18.12.1.3.2 Brinell and Test Method E10.12.1.4 Grain SizeMethods E112.13. Inspection13.1 Inspection of the material shall be made as agreed uponby manufacturer and purchaser as part of the purchase contract.14. Rejection and Rehearing14.1 Material not conforming to any part

43、 of this specifica-tion or to authorized modifications, will be subject to rejectionof the entire lot of material.14.2 Retests for mechanical properties shall be permitted ifperformed within one week of final processing for use.14.3 Independent TestsIn the event of a dispute arising asto the complia

44、nce of the lead alloy strip, sheet, or plate with therequirements set forth in this specification, the purchaser mayrequire the submission of product (check) samples to anindependent laboratory for testing. The costs of such testingshall be borne by the purchaser.15. Certification15.1 Upon request o

45、f the purchaser in a contract or order, amanufacturers certification that the material was manufacturedand tested in accordance with this specification, together witha report of the actual test results from each lot, shall befurnished.16. Product Marking16.1 Each bundle or shipping container shall b

46、e markedwith the name of the alloy, the condition, this specificationnumber, the size, thickness, gross, net and tare weight, lotnumber, consignor and consignee address, contract or purchaseorder number, and any other such information as may bedefined in the contract or order.16.2 Lead plate over12

47、in. thick, when required in thecontract or purchase order, shall be marked along one edgewith the alloy designation, manufacturers brand name, heat orlot number, and customers number. The markings shall bemade with nonsoluble ink or point and shall be repeated atintervals of not greater than 3 ft al

48、ong the edge of the plate.17. Packaging and Package Marking17.1 The purchaser must state in the order or contract anyspecial packaging, crating, or transportation required.18.
