3、and fittings.1.2 Several different types of hubless couplings are avail-able for use in hubless cast iron sanitary and storm drain,waste, and vent piping applications to connect hubless cast ironsoil pipe and fittings by using a sleeve-type, or some other typecoupling device. It is the purpose of th
4、is specification to furnishinformation as to the characteristics of one such sleeve-typecouplings when applied to cast iron soil pipe and fittingsmanufactured in accordance with Specification A888, latestrevision, and CISPI-301, latest revision.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be reg

Materials and Manufacture4.1 Physical properties

Elastomeric Gasket Requirements5.1 The gaskets shall be tested in accordance with TestMethods D3677 and be manufactured from a properly vulca-nized virgin compound where the primary elastomer is poly-chloroprene (neoprene).5.2 The elast
24、omeric gasket shall consist of one piece con-forming to the physical requirements of Specification C564.The gaskets shall be tested by the gasket manufacturer forcompliance to Specification C564 during each day of produc-tion not to exceed 24 h for each size of gasket being produced.These tests shal
25、l be performed at the manufacturers locationduring the time of production. These tests shall includehardness, elongation and tensile strength, tear strength, andcompression set. Heat aging, water absorption, ozoneresistance, and oil immersion tests shall be performed annuallyor when the formulation
26、changes or sources of supply change,whichever occurs first.5.2.1 The elastomeric gasket shall have an inside center stopthat does not create an enlargement chamber or recess with aledge, shoulder, or reduction of pipe area or offer an obstruc-tion to flow.5.2.2 The elastomeric gasket shall be free o
27、f defects thataffect the use and serviceability.6. Clamp Assembly Requirements6.1 The shield and clamp assembly shall be made ofmaterial conforming to the requirements as outlined in Section6, Table 3, and Fig. 3.NOTE 1Dimensions found in these drawings are for informational purposes only. All partsmade from round stock shall be of 300 series stainless steel(excluding copper-bearing alloys). The shield shall be corru-gated or otherw
31、ise provided with a mechanism to accommo-date maximum and minimum ODs of pipe and fittings andinclude two stainless steel bands for sizes 112 to 4 in., fourbands for 5 to 10 in., and six bands for 12 and 15 in. Eachtightening device housing shall interlock with a band at theunslotted end. The bands
32、are to be fastened to the shield byriveting or such other method that will ensure that the bandswill not become separated from the shield. The shield andclamp assembly shall comply with dimensions and materialspecifications as given in Table 3 and Figs. 3 and 4.6.1.2 Clamp assemblies shall be tested
33、 to withstand no lessthan 125 % of the manufacturers stated installation torque ora minimum of 60 lbfin. (6.78 Nm) of applied torque,whichever is greater, without visible signs of failure. Theclamp assembly shall be tested over a steel mandrel of theappropriate diameter and torqued as required. Thes

Coup
38、lings Requirements and Test Methods7.1 Assemble each coupling tested according to the manu-facturers instructions between two sections of randomlyselected hubless cast iron soil pipe meeting the requirements ofCISPI-301 or Specification A888 and conduct the followingtests: deflection and shear. In a
39、ddition, an unrestrained hydro-static test will be performed between two sections of machinedsteel pipe. The unrestrained hydrostatic tests shall be per-formed on randomly selected couplings of each size during thecourse of production using first article selection not to exceed30 days. The deflectio
40、n and shear tests shall be performed onrandomly selected couplings of each size during productionwhenever a change of design occurs or not to exceed 120 days,whichever is the shorter period.7.1.1 Deflection Test:7.1.1.1 A test apparatus such as the one shown in Fig. 5 issuggested. Other testing appa
41、rati that provide restraint to theassembly shall also be permitted.
