Scope*1.1 This specification covers the requirements for concretegrid paving units for vehicular trafficways, parking areas, soilstabilization, and revetments.NOTE 1

3、When particular features are desired, such as weightclassification, higher compressive strength, surface texture, finish, color,or other special features, such properties should be specified separately bythe purchaser. However, local sellers should be consulted as to availabilityof units having the

4、desired features.1.2 The text of this standard references notes and footnoteswhich provide explanatory material. Terminology3.1 Terminology defined in Terminology C1232 shall

Materials4.1 Cementitious MaterialsMaterials shall conform to thefollowing applicable ASTM specifications:4.1.1 Portland CementsSpecification C150.4.1.2 Modified Portland CementPortland cement con-forming to Specification C150, modified as follows:4.1.2.1 Calcium carbo

9、nate, with a minimum 85 % CaCO3content, shall be permitted to be interground with the cement,provided the requirements of Specification C150 as modifiedare met: limitation on insoluble residue is 1.5 % and limitationon loss on ignition is 7 %.4.1.3 Blended Hydraulic CementsSpecification C595.4.1.4 H

11、y:4.2.1 Normal WeightSpecification C33.4.2.2 LightweightSpecification C331.4.3 Pigments for Integrally Colored ConcreteSpecification C979.4.4 Other ConstituentsAir-entraining agents, integral wa-ter repellents, and other constituents, shall be previouslyestablished as suitable for use in concrete gr

12、id paving units andshall conform to applicable ASTM standards, or they shall beshown by test or experience satisfactory to the specifier and notto be detrimental to the durability of the concrete grid pavingunit or any material customarily used in grid paving construc-tion.5. Physical Requirements5.

13、1 Units shall have maximum length and width dimensionsof 24 in. by 24 in. (610 mm by 610 mm).1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee C15 onManufactured Masonry Units and is the direct responsibility of SubcommitteeC15.03 on Concrete Masonry Units and Related Units.Current edi

United States15.2 Units shall have a minimu

16、m specified thickness of 318in. (80 mm).5.3 At the time of delivery to the work site, the units shallconform to the physical requirements prescribed in Table 1.5.4 DurabilityDurability shall be demonstrated by provenfield performance satisfactory to the specifier that the gridpaver units have adequa

17、te durability for the intended use.5.4.1 Proven Field PerformanceSatisfactory field perfor-mance is demonstrated when units similar in composition andmade with the same manufacturing process as those to besupplied to the purchaser, maintain the physical requirementsspecified in Table 1 after three y

18、ears of use. The units used asthe basis for proven field performance shall have been exposedto the same general type of environment, temperature range,and traffic volume as is expected for the units supplied to thepurchaser.6. Permissible Variations in Dimensions6.1 Length or width of units shall no

19、t differ by more than618 in. (63.2 mm) from specified dimensions. Heights of unitsshall not differ by more than 618 in. (63.2 mm) from thespecified dimensions. Tests shall be performed as required in7.2.7. Sampling and Testing7.1 The purchaser or his authorized representative shall beaccorded proper

20、 facilities to inspect and sample the units at theplace of manufacture from lots ready for delivery.7.2 Compressive strength, absorption, density, and dimen-sional tolerances shall be based on tests of concrete grid pavingunits of any configuration or dimensions made with the samematerials, concrete

21、 mix design, manufacturing process, andcuring method, conducted in accordance with Test MethodsC140 and within 12 months of production of the units.8. Visual Inspection8.1 Units shall be free of defects that interfere with theproper placing of the unit or impair the strength or permanenceof the cons

22、truction.9. Compliance9.1 If a sample fails to conform to the specifiedrequirements, the manufacturer shall be permitted to removeunits from the shipment. A new sample shall be selected by thepurchaser from remaining units from the shipment with asimilar configuration and dimension and tested at the

23、 expenseof the manufacturer. If the second sample meets the specifiedrequirements, the remaining portion of the shipment repre-sented by the sample meets the specified requirements. If thesecond sample fails to meet the specified requirements, theremaining portion of the shipment represented by the

24、samplefails to meet the specified requirements.NOTE 2Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order, the costs oftests is typically borne as follows: (1) if the results of the tests show thatthe units do not conform to the requirements of this specification the costis typically borne by the seller

25、; (2) if the results of the tests show that theunits conform to the specification requirements, the cost is typically borneby the purchaser.10.
