Preparation of Mortar7.1 Prepare a 1000

If the proportions specified are by volume, weigh thematerials and report the corresponding proportions by weight.Pour an appropriate amount of liquid into the pan, graduallyadd the powder to th

Continue the mixing operation for 1min after an apparently uniform mixture is obtained. Spreadout the mortar in a layer of uniform thickness covering theentire surface of the m

Working Time8.1 Remove approximately 25-g portions of the resin mortarat specific intervals and trowel on t

In order that sufficient data will beobtained with the minimum quantity of material, it is recom-mended that the testing be done every 5 min until the materialbegins to curl behind the trowel. The sample shall be removedfrom a portion of the mortar l

The working time shall be recordedas the longest time (in minutes) at which the mortar does notcurl behind the trowel.9. Initial Setting Time9.1 Immediately after mixing is comp

The bricksshould be laid on freezer paper and the buttered sides pushedtogether to form a joint approximately 6 mm (14 in.) wide. Careshould be taken to eliminate voids when pu

Strike off anyexcess material above the joint by use of the trowel.9.2 Examine the joint qualitatively, at 1-h intervals, with thepoint of the trowel until indentation be

Record the initial setting time as the timeinterval in hours at which the indentation of the Vicat needle isless than 1 mm.10. Service Str
23、ength Setting Time10.1 Make a minimum of three tension test specimens fortesting at each time interval. This normally requires 12 or morespecimens. Prepare tension specimens in accordance with TestMethod C 307. Make the first test 24 h after the initial mixingtime and continue every 48 h until 90 %
