1、Designation: D1600 13Standard Terminology forAbbreviated Terms Relating to Plastics1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D1600; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in p

Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope*1.1 The purpose of this terminology is to provide uniformcontraction

3、s of terms relating to plastics. Abbreviated termi-nology has evolved through widespread common usage. Thiscompilation has been prepared to avoid both the occurrence ofmore than one abbreviated term for a given plastics term andmultiple meanings for abbreviated terms.1.2 The scope of these abbreviat

Also included are abbreviated terms for termsrelating to copolymers, blends and alloys of plastics, andadditives such as plasticizers, fi

They represent, in general, those termsthat have come into established use. Since it is re

7、cognized thatabbreviated terms serve no useful purpose unless they aregenerally accepted and used, no attempt has been made toestablish a rigorous code for devising standard abbreviatedterms. This would result in awkward departures from estab-lished usage of existing and accepted abbreviated terms a

The abbrevi-ated terms now in use have grown naturally out of the need forconvenient, readily comprehended shorthand for long chemicalnames. This process can be expected to continue along then

A general guide forthe preparation of abbreviated terms appears desirable, however, to facilitate more organized and uniform standard-ization in the future. An appendix is attached, which suggest

The system is provided for use in situationswhere marking of plastics products is desired.NOTE 2Many of the abbreviated terms, codes, numbers, and symbolsin ISO 1043 parts 1 through 3 and in ISO/DIS 1043-4 are the same as thecorresponding item in ASTM D1600.
