Scope*1.1 This specification covers toluene diisocyanate used asan ingredient in the production of polyurethane materials.NOTE 1The properties included in this specificati

3、on are those re-quired to characterize toluene diisocyanate. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsFor definitions of terms used in this speci-fication, see Terminology D883.4. Classification4.1 This specification covers three classes of toluene diiso-cyanates, based on isome

8、r ratio as described in Table 1.4.2 Each class is subdivided into three types on the basis ofacidity and hydrolyzable chloride differences as follows:4.2.1 Type I or AAcidity shall be less than 0.0045expressed as percent HCl. Hydrolyzable chloride shall be lessthan 0.01 %.4.2.2 Type II or BAcidity s

9、hall be between 0.0070 and0.012 expressed as percent HCl. Hydrolyzable chloride shall beless than 0.015 %.4.2.3 Type III or CAcidity shall be greater than 0.012expressed as percent HCl. Hydrolyzable chloride limits are setat the convenience of the supplier and purchaser.4.2.4 Toluene diisocyanate th

10、at has an acidity value thatfalls between Type I (Type A) and Type II (Type B)isnotcurrently included in this specification.5. Requirements5.1 These materials shall conform to the requirementsprescribed in Table 1.6. Sampling and Test Methods6.1 The materials shall be sampled and tested in accordanc

11、ewith Test Methods D4660, D4661, D4663, D4877, D5155, andD5629.7. Retest and Rejection7.1 If any failure occurs, it is acceptable to retest thematerial to establish conformity to the specification approvedby the purchaser and the supplier.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committ

15、 Package Marking8.1 PackagingThe material shall be packaged in standardcommercial containers so constructed as to ensure compliancewith Department of Transportation standards for such contain-ers and shall be suitable for safe transportation at the lowestrate to the point of delivery. 16、nd EPA5regulations to determine their applicability to this material.8.2 MarkingShipping containers/documents shall bemarked with the name of the material, the type of material, andthe quantity contained therein. Include the necessary hazardlabels as defined by the Department of Transportation for t

17、hismaterial, the number of the contact or order, and the manufac-turers name and emergency telephone number in case ofaccident.
