Scope*1.1 This specification covers liquids for use in paints,varnishes, en

3、amels, and similar organic coatings and aresolutions of metallic salts of:1.1.1 Class A2-Ethyl hexanoic acids in petroleum spirits.1.1.2 Class BNaphthenic acids in petroleum spirits.1.1.3 Class CNeodecanoic acids in petroleum spirits.1.1.4 Class DTall oil fatty acids in petroleum spirits.1.1.5 Class

4、 EAny of the above acids or acid blends, butcontaining additives that make the liquid drier water dispers-ible. Some other driers may also contain complexing agents.1.1.6 Class FOther acids and acid blends unidentified bytheir producers.1.2 The following applies to all specified limits in thisstanda

5、rd; for purposes of determining conformance with thisstandard, an observed value or a calculated value shall berounded off “to the nearest unit” in the last right-hand digitused in expressing the specification limit in accordance withthe rounding-off method of Practice E29.1.3 The values stated in S

Chemical and Physical Requirements3.1 Quantitative RequirementsThe drier shall conform tothe quantitative requirements as specified in Table 1 formetallic content, color, and viscosity.3.2 Physical AppearanceEach type of drier shall be amobile

9、 liquid free of sediment and suspended matter and shallbe stable and miscible with oil as listed in Test Methods D564.4. Significance and Use4.1 This specification covers the general requirements forliquid paint driers used in paints, varnishes, enamels, andsimilar organic coatings.4.2 The values li

10、sted should be considered as general guidesto the character of the products, rather than reproducibleconstants.5. Test Methods5.1 The properties enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined in accordance with Test Methods D564, except asotherwise provided in this specification.6. Packaging an

11、d Package Marking6.1 Package size shall be agreed upon between the pur-chaser and the supplier.6.2 Packaging shall conform to applicable carrier rules andregulations or when specified shall conform to Fed.
