、Designation: D2472 00 (Reapproved 2014)Standard Specification forSulfur Hexafluoride1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D2472; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in

、parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This specification applies to sulfur hexafluoride for useas

、 an electrical insulating gas.NOTE 1This specification is intended to apply only to gas aspurchased. However, the test methods referred to in this standard may beuseful in the evaluation of in-service or used gas. Test Method D2284 maybe particularly helpful since many sulfur hexafluoride decomposit

、ionproducts are acidic. Test Method D2284 should not be used to evaluate thetotal amount of sulfur hexafluoride decomposition nor to identify con-taminant species. This can only be done by gas chromatography andsimilar instrumental techniques.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of thes

、afety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2.
