Scope1.1 This specification covers granule-surfaced asphalt roof-ing shingles that meet the requirements

3、 for Class A fire test,behavior on heating, and wind testing.1.2 Shingles meeting this specification are intended to beapplied with a headlap of not less than 51 mm 2 in.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach sy

4、stem may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.1.4 This international standard was developed in accor-dance with internationally recognized principles on standard-i

7、ology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 glass matfor testing purposes in accordance withTest Methods D228/D228M, glass mat shall be considered asfelt.3.2 For definitions of terms used in this specification, seeTerminology D1079.4. Classification4.1 Asphalt shingles covered by this specification are of twotypes:4

8、.1.1 Type ISelf-sealing.4.1.2 Type IINon-self-sealing.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 The shingles covered by this specification shall consistof organic felt or glass mat(s) saturated or impregnated andcoated on both sides with a hot asphaltic material. All surfacesintended to be exposed to the weat

9、her, including any cutouts orother separations, when the product is applied in accordancewith the manufacturers/sellers instructions, shall be surfacedwith mineral granules embedded in the asphalt coating.5.2 The hot asphaltic material used to saturate or impregnateand coat the organic felt or glass

10、 mat(s) may be compoundedwith a mineral stabilizer.5.3 The reverse side of the shingles shall be covered with asuitable material to prevent the shingles from sticking togetherin the package.5.4 Type I shingles shall have a factory-applied adhesivethat will seal the shingles together after applicatio

Physical Requirements6.1 Shingles shall not stick together in the package so as tocause damage upon being unpacked at ambient temperaturesabove 10C 50F.6.2 Loss and Behavior on HeatingThere shall be not morethan 1.5 % average loss of volatile matter, and the granularsurfacing shall not slide mo

12、re than 2 mm 116 in.6.3 Fire Test ClassificationShingles shall pass all of theClass A fire exposure tests.6.4 Wind ResistanceShingles shall be classified in accor-dance with the wind-resistance test (see 9.1.3).7. Dimensions and Permissible Variations7.1 The form and size of the shingles shall be as

17、,except that the length of shingles without cutouts shall not varymore than 66.4 mm 14 in. The width of the shingles shall notvary more than 66.4 mm 14 in.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The organic felt or glass mat(s) shall be uniformlysaturated or impregnated with asphalt and shall show

18、 nountreated spots at any point upon cutting 50-mm 2-in. widestrips at random across the entire width of the shingle andsplitting them open for their full length.8.2 The weather surface shall be uniform in finish and ispermitted to be embossed to simulate a grain texture. Themineral granules shall c

19、over all surfaces intended to beexposed to the weather when the product is applied inaccordance with the manufacturers/sellers instructions, andshall be firmly embedded in the asphalt coating. The granulesshall not have ruptured the fibers of the felt or mat.8.3 The finished shingles shall be free o

20、f visible defectssuch as holes, edges not cleanly cut, rents, cracks, indentations,or lumps of coating.9. Sampling and Test Methods9.1 Sample the material in accordance with Test MethodsD228/D228M and determine conformance to the requirementsof this specification in accordance with the following tes

21、tmethods:9.1.1 Loss and Behavior on HeatingTest Methods D228/D228M.9.1.2 Fire Test ClassificationTest Methods E108, Class ATests.9.1.3 Wind ResistanceTest Method D3161/D3161M.10. Inspection10.1 Inspection of material shall be made as agreed upon bythe purchaser and the seller as part of the purchase

22、 contract.11. Rejection and Resubmittal11.1 Failure to conform to any one of the requirementsprescribed in this specification shall constitute grounds forrejection. In case of rejection, the seller shall have the right toreinspect the rejected shipment and resubmit the lot afterremoval of those pack

23、ages not conforming to the specifiedrequirement.12. Packaging, Marking, and Shipping12.1 The shingles shall be packed for shipment to ensureacceptance by common carrier for interstate transportation andto afford adequate protection from normal hazards of handling.12.2 Unless otherwise agreed upon be

24、tween the supplierand the purchaser, each product package shall be markedplainly with the suppliers name, product brand, the area of theroof surface covered, ASTM designation, fire classification inaccordance with Test Methods E108, wind classification inaccordance with Test Method D3161/D3161M, sty

25、le and colorof the product. Directions for application shall be included in atleast every square of shingles.13.
