16、uirements of this specification are intended toprovide pipe and fittings suitable for non-pressure drainage ofsewage and surface water.NOTE 1Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only withthe specific approval of the cognizant code authority since chemicals notcommonly found in drains

Basic Materials5.1 Pipe shall be made of PVC plastic having a cellclassification of 12454 or 12364 as defined in SpecificationD1784.5.2 Fittings shall be made of PVC plastic having a cellclassification of 12454 or 13343 as defi
18、ned in SpecificationD1784.5.3 Pipe and FittingCompounds that have different cellclassifications, because one or more properties are superior tothose of the specified compounds, are also acceptable.5.4 Rework MaterialThe manufacturer shall use only hisown clean pipe or fitting rework material; the pi
19、pe and fittingsproduced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Joining Systems6.1 Solvent Cement Joints for Pipe and FittingsIn thesolvent cement joint, the pipe spigot wedges into the taperedsocket and the surfaces fuse together. The tapered socket maybe a portion of a molded fitt
20、ing or it may be a belled end of thepipe section. Formed bells shall be concentric with the pipeaxis.6.1.1 The assembly of joints shall be in accordance withPractice D2855.6.1.2 Joint TightnessJoints made with pipe and fittings orwith belled-end pipe shall show no signs of leakage whentested in acco
21、rdance with 8.9.6.2 Elastomeric Gasket Joints, providing a water-tight seal.6.2.1 The assembly of elastomeric gasket joints shall be inaccordance with the pipe and fittings manufacturers recom-mendations.7. Requirements7.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be homoge-neous throughout and free fr
22、om visible cracks, holes, foreigninclusions, or other injurious defects. The pipe shall be asuniform as commercially practical in color, opacity, density,and other physical properties.7.2 Pipe Requirements:7.2.1 DiameterThe average outside diameter of the pipeshall meet the requirements given in Tab
23、le 1 when measured inaccordance with 8.4.1.7.2.2 Wall ThicknessPipe wall thicknesses shall meet therequirements of Table 1 when measured in accordance withTest Method D2122 and 8.4.2. In the case of belled pipe andfittings fabricated from pipe sections, the thickness of the wallin the bell shall be
24、considered satisfactory if it was formedfrom pipe meeting the preceding requirements.NOTE 2The wall thickness variability in any cross section of the pipeis normally 12% or less.7.2.3 Pipe FlatteningThere shall be no evidence ofsplitting, cracking, or breaking when pipe is tested in accor-dance with
25、 8.6.7.2.4 Pipe Impact StrengthThe impact strength of the pipeshall not be less than the values given in Table 2 when testedin accordance with 8.7.NOTE 3This test is intended only for use as a quality control test, notas a simulated service test.7.2.5 Pipe StiffnessPipe stiffness values for the pipe
26、 shallcomply with Table 3 when tested in accordance with 8.8.7.2.6 Pipe Extrusion QualityThe pipe shall not flake ordisintegrate when tested in accordance with 8.10.7.3 Requirements for Solvent Cemented Pipe and Fittings7.3.1 Socket DiameterThe inside diameter of the taperedsocket shall comply with
27、the dimensions listed in Table 4 whendetermined in accordance with 8.5.1.7.3.2 Socket DepthThe socket depth shall not be less thanthat shown in Table 4 when measured in accordance with 8.5.2.7.3.3 Wall Thickness of Molded Fittings:7.3.3.1 The wall thicknesses of the waterway and socket orbell of mol
28、ded fittings shall be no less than the respectiveminimum thicknesses listed for the equivalent pipe in Table 1.For reducing fittings or those with smaller inlets, the minimumwall thickness of each inlet shall be no less than the minimumwall thickness for that size pipe. The thickness shall bedetermi
29、ned in accordance with Test Method D2122 and 8.5.3.7.3.3.2 The wall thickness is a minimum value except that a610% variation resulting from core shift is allowable. In sucha case, the average of two opposite wall thicknesses shall equalor exceed the value shown in Table 1.7.3.4 Spigot LengthThe mini

33、bination of pipe and molded parts shall be consid-ered a fabricated fitting. The actual construction will vary frommanufacturer to manufacturer and the following provisionsshall apply.7.4.1 Over-Wrapped FittingsFabricated fittings that havean over-wrap of fiberglass reinforced thermosetting resin or
34、other similar materials shall meet all of the requirements in7.4.2 and 8.11.NOTE 4Refer to Appendix X3 for geometric configurations of someof the fittings being produced. Consult the individual manufacturer forlaying lengths.7.4.2 Fabricated Fittings General Requirements:7.4.2.1 Pipe used in fabrica
35、ted fittings shall meet all qualityand dimensional requirements listed in the standard for thatpipe.7.4.2.2 Pipe used in fabricated fittings shall have a wallthickness equal to or greater than the wall thickness of thepipes to which the fitting (or that part of the fitting) will bejoined.7.4.2.3 No
36、part of the spur or branch shall protrude into thewaterway of the fitting more than 0.070 in.7.4.2.4 All edges and joints exposed to sewage shall berounded and free from any rough parts that could catch solids.7.4.2.5 No fabricated fitting shall have an inside diameterdimension smaller than the valu
37、e shown in Table 5 for that pipesize and DR for which it is designed.7.4.2.6 All welds and solvent cement joints shall be free ofvisible defects and shall have full surface-to-surface contactwhen visually inspected. The full surface-to-surface contact ofsocket and spigot does not apply in the areas
38、where a taper,chamfer, or radius exists at the socket entrance.7.5 Solvent CementThe cement shall meet the require-ments of Specification D2564.7.6 Requirements for Pipe and Fittings with ElastomericGasket Joints:7.6.1 Pipe RequirementsIn addition to the requirements of7.2, the assembled joint shall
39、 display no leakage when tested inaccordance with the requirements of Specification D3212.7.6.1.1 BellsThe dimensions shall be in accordance withthe manufacturers standard design dimensions and tolerances.7.6.2 Fitting RequirementsWith the exception of spigotlengths, molded and fabricated fittings w

In case of no prior agreement, an
48、y sampleselected by the testing laboratory shall be deemed adequate.8.4 Pipe Dimensions:8.4.1 Pipe DiametersMeasure the average outside diam-eter of the pipe in accordance with the applicable section ofTest Method D2122. Either a tapered sleeve gage or a verniercircumferential wrap tape accurate to
49、60.02 mm (60.001 in.)may be used.8.4.2 Wall ThicknessMeasure the wall thickness in accor-dance with the applicable section of Test Method D2122. Makesufficient readings, a minimum of six, to ensure that theminimum thickness has been determined. Use a cylindricalanvil tubing micrometer accurate to 60.02 mm (60.001 in.).8.5 Fittings Dimensions:8.5.1 Socket DiametersMeasure the inside diameters ofthe sockets at the entrance and bottom in accordance with theapplicable section of Test Method D212
