Significance and Use4.1 The purpose of this specification is to establish on anational basis, a recognized standard of quality for rigidpoly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) interior-profile extrusions for inte-rior use other than cellular products, piping, tubin

16、tes.5. Classification5.1 This standard covers three classes of rigid PVC interior-profile extrusions as follows:Class 1Normal impactClass 2Intermediate impactClass 3High impact6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 This specification covers profile extrusions made fromplastics conforming to the requirement
17、s of SpecificationD 1784. Class 1 extrusions shall meet the requirements speci-fied in Specification D 1784 for Class 12454 compound. Class2 extrusions shall meet the requirements for Class 14323compound. Class 3 extrusions shall meet the requirements forClass 1-40031-54-0000 compound. Refer to Tabl
18、e 1 in Speci-fication D 1784.6.2 Rigid PVC recycled plastic, as defined in Guide D 7209,may be used in this product if all the requirements in thesections on Materials and Manufacture (Section 6), and onPhysical Requirements (Section 7) are met by the extrusionscontaining PVC recycled plastic.6.3 Al
19、l Class compounds shall have a minimum coefficientof linear expansion of 10 3 10-5cm/cm/C (5.5 3 10-5in./in./F).NOTE 3Non-PVC materials may be used as a capstock.6.4 Rework MaterialClean, homogeneous PVC reworkmaterial or rework material containing PVC capstock gener-ated from the manufacturers own
20、production of the same classcompound may be used by the same manufacturer providingthat the extruded profiles meet all the requirements of thisspecification. Clean principally PVC rework material contain-ing non-PVC capstock may be used only in the substrate of acapstocked product by the same manufa
21、cturer, providing thatthe extruded profiles meet all of the requirements of thisspecification.6.5 The PVC compound in extruded section shall maintainuniform color and be free of any visual surface or structuralchanges, such as peeling, chipping, cracking, flaking, orpitting.7. Physical Requirements7
22、.1 DimensionsThe size, thickness, and dimensional tol-erances of the interior-profile extrusions shall be as agreedupon between the supplier and purchaser.7.2 Dimensional StabilityThe dimensional stability of theinterior-profile extrusions shall be determined in the extrusiondirection in accordance
23、with 8.5. Extrusions over 1.02 mm(0.040 in.) in thickness shall have a maximum shrinkage of2.2 %; those of 1.02-mm (0.040-in.) thickness or less shallhave a 3.0 % maximum shrinkage.7.3 Extrusion QualityThe extrusion quality of Class 1extrusions shall be determined by immersion in anhydrousacetone in
24、 accordance with the requirements of 8.6. Specimensof extrusions having not more than 25 % surface attack shall beconsidered as adequately fused and of satisfactory quality. Theextrusion qualities of Class 2 and Class 3 extrusions shall be asagreed upon between the supplier and purchaser.8. Test Met
25、hods8.1 GeneralUse the inspection and test procedures con-tained in this section to determine the conformance of productsto the requirements of this specification. Each producer ordistributor who represents his products as conforming to thisspecification may utilize statistically based sampling plan
26、s thatare appropriate for each particular manufacturing process, butshall keep such essential records as are necessary to documentwith a high degree of assurance his claim that all of therequirements of this specification have been met. Additionalsampling and testing of the product, as may be agreed
27、 uponbetween supplier and purchaser, is not precluded by thissection.8.2 Visual InspectionVisually examine the interior-profileextrusions to determine their compliance with the requirementsof 6.5.8.3 Conditioning of SpecimensCondition the test speci-mens in accordance with ProcedureAof Practice D 61
28、8, exceptthat the minimum conditioning time shall be 24 h.8.4 Test ConditionsConduct the tests the Standard Labo-ratory Atmosphere of 23 6 1C (73.4 6 1.8F) and 50 6 5%relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the applicabletest method.8.5 Dimensional StabilityDetermine the dimensional sta-bil
29、ity in accordance with Test Method D 1042, except that thetest cycle shall consist of heating the specimens for 30 min ina uniformly heated oven at a temperature of 82.0 6 0.6C (1806 1F).8.6 Extrusion QualityDetermine the extrusion quality inaccordance with Test Method D 2152, except that the testsp
30、ecimens shall be 25.40 to 50.80 mm (1 to 2 in.) in length andsufficient in number to ensure testing the complete crosssection. In the test procedure described, the interior-profileextrusions will normally swell and soften in contact withanhydrous acetone. In some cases there may be surface attack.Di
31、sintegration is defined as complete separation of flakes orpieces from the body of the extrusion.8.7 Coeffcient of Linear ExpansionConduct this test inaccordance with Test Method D 696.9. Product Marking9.1 In order that purchasers may identify products conform-ing to all requirements of this specif
32、ication, producers anddistributors may include a statement of compliance in conjunc-tion with their name and address on product labels, invoices,sales literature, and the like. The following statement issuggested when sufficient space is available:“The product conforms to all of the requirements est
33、ablishedin ASTM D 3678, developed cooperatively with the industryand published by ASTM.”“Full responsibility for the conformance of this product tothis specification is assumed by (name and address of produceror distributor).”9.2 The following abbreviated statement is suggested whenavailable space o
