Practice E 2339 defines an in-dustrial adaptation of the NEMA Standar
4、ds Publication titledDigital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM,see http:/medical.nema.org), an international standard forimage data acquisition, review, transfer and archival storage.The goal of Practice E 2339, commonly referred to as DI-CONDE, is to provide a standard that facilitates
5、the display andanalysis of NDE test results on any system conforming to theDICONDE standard. Toward that end, Practice E 2339 pro-vides a data dictionary and set of information modules that areapplicable to all NDE modalities. This practice supplementsPractice E 2339 by providing information object
6、definitions,information modules and data dictionary that are specific toultrasonic test methods.1.2 This practice has been developed to overcome the issuesthat arise when analyzing or archiving data from ultrasonic testequipment using proprietary data transfer and storage methods.As digital technolo
7、gies evolve, data must remain decipherablethrough the use of open, industry-wide methods for datatransfer and archival storage. This practice defines a methodwhere all the ultrasonic technique parameters and test resultsare communicated and stored in a standard format regardless ofchanges in digital
8、 technology.1.3 This practice does not specify:1.3.1 A testing or validation procedure to assess an imple-mentations conformance to the standard.1.3.2 The implementation details of any features of thestandard on a device claiming conformance.1.3.3 The overall set of features and functions to be ex-p

The data dictionary and informationmodules common to all NDE modalities are defined in PracticeE 2339.4.2 The data dictionary and information modules specifiedin Practice E 2339 do not cover the information storagerequirements for each individua
18、l modality (CT, DR, CR, UT,etc.). Additions to the data dictionary and information modulesare required to support the individual modalities. This practicecontains the additions to the DICONDE data dictionary andinformation modules necessary for ultrasonic inspection.4.3 The highest organizational le
19、vel in the DICONDEinformation model is the information object definition (IOD).An information object definition is a collection of the infor-mation modules necessary to represent a set of test results froma specific modality. This practice contains the informationobject definitions for ultrasonic in
20、spection.5. Significance and Use5.1 Personnel that are responsible for the creation, transfer,and storage of ultrasonic test results will use this standard. Thispractice defines a set of information modules that along withPractice E 2339 and the DICOM standard provide a standardmeans to organize ult
21、rasonic test parameters and results. Theultrasonic test results may be displayed and analyzed on anydevice that conforms to this standard. Personnel wishing toview any ultrasonic inspection data stored in DICONDEformat may use this document to help them decode and displaythe data contained in the DI
