Scope1.1 This specification covers requirements for polyethylene(PE) pipe and fittings for nonpressure r

3、oof drain systems.1.2 This specification covers pipe and fittings intended fornormal residential and commercial uses and is not intended foruse in unusual corrosive conditions.NOTE 1Before installing pipe for waste disposal use, the approval ofthe cognizant building code authority shall be obtained

4、as conditions notfound in normal use or temperatures approaching 140F (60C) may beencountered.1.3 Pipe is produced in dimensions based on outside diam-eters of 32 mm (1.250 in.) and larger in accordance withSpecification F714.1.4 The interchangeability of pipe and fittings made bydifferent manufactu

5、rers is not addressed in this specification.Transition fittings for joining pipe and fittings of differentmanufacturers is provided for in this specification.1.5 Pipe and fittings are joined by the heat-fusion method,by the electrofusion method, or by using mechanical joints(excluding insert fitting

6、s) recommended by the manufacturer.1.6 In referee decisions, the SI units shall be used formetric-sized pipe and inch-pound units for pipe sized in the IPSsystem (ANSI B36.10). In all cases, the values given inparentheses are provided for information only.1.7 The following safety hazards caveat pert

Terminology3.1 Definitions Definitions used in this specification are inaccordance with the definitions given in Terminology F412,and abbreviations are in accordance with Terminology D1600,unless otherwise indicated.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 toe-in, na small reduct

18、ion of the outside diameter atthe cut end of a length of thermoplastic pipe.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 Polyethylene (PE) virgin material for pipe or fittingsshall be from a single compound manufacturer and shall meetor exceed the requirements of Cell Classification PE345434 asdefined in Specifi

19、cation D3350 or by appropriate cell classifi-cation as defined in Specification D4976.4.1.1 This specification covers PE pipe made from PEplastics as defined by hydrostatic design stresses developed onthe basis of the long-term tests.4.2 The polyethylene material shall contain suitable stabi-lizers

20、and antioxidants and may contain pigments not detri-mental to pipe and fittings provided the pipe and fittingsproduced meet the requirements of this specification.4.3 Rework MaterialsClean rework material generatedfrom the manufacturers own pipe or fittings products may beused by the same manufactur

21、er, using the same type and graderesin, provided that the pipe and fittings produced meet all therequirements of this specification.NOTE 2See Specification D3350 and Guide D5033 for informationand definitions related to both rework and recycled plastics.5. Requirements5.1 Dimensions and TolerancesPi

22、pe:5.1.1 Outside DiametersThese shall be in accordancewith Table 1 (SI units) or Table 2 (inch-pound units), and shallbe measured in accordance with Test Method D2122 at anypoint not closer than 300 mm (11.8 in.) to the cut end of alength of pipe. Conditioning to standard temperature, but not tostan

23、dard humidity, is required.5.1.2 Wall ThicknessThe minimum thicknesses shall be inaccordance with Table 3 (millimetres) or Table 4 (inches) whenmeasured in accordance with Test Method D2122. Condition-ing to standard temperature, but not to standard humidity, isrequired.5.1.3 EccentricityThe wall th

24、ickness variability as mea-sured and calculated in accordance with Test Method D2122 inany diametrical cross section of the pipe shall not exceed 12 %.5.1.4 Toe-InWhen measured in accordance with 5.1.1, theoutside diameter at the cut-end of the pipe shall not be morethan 1.5 % smaller than the undis

30、 pipe.Undistorted outside diameter shall meet specifications in Table1 or Table 2.5.1.5 Special SizesWhen existing system conditions orspecial local requirements make other diameters or dimensionratios necessary, other sizes or dimension ratios, or both, shallbe acceptable for engineered application

31、s when mutuallyagreed upon by the customer and the manufacturer, if the pipeis manufactured from plastic compounds meeting the materialrequirements of this specification, and the strength and designrequirements are calculated on the same basis as those used inthis specification. For diameters not sh

32、own in Table 1 or Table2, the tolerance shall be the same percentage as that shown inthe corresponding tables for the next smaller listed size.Minimum wall thicknesses for DRs not shown in Table 3 orTable 4 shall comply with 5.1.2, and the tolerance shall complywith 5.1.3.5.2 Dimensions and Toleranc

33、esFittings:5.2.1 Wall ThicknessThe minimum wall thickness of thebody of all fittings shall not be less than that for the corre-sponding pipe size and shall be measured in accordance withTest Method D2122.5.2.2 EccentricitySpigot ends of fittings shall conform tothe diameter and out-of-roundness requ

34、irements for pipe.5.2.3 Socket ends of fittings shall conform to the dimen-sional requirements for size and tolerances as provided onrequest by the manufacturer.5.2.4 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads,threads shall be in accordance with Specification F1498 and begaged in accordance w

35、ith 7.7.5.2.5 PatternsThe patterns, dimensions, and layinglengths of molded fittings, including adaptors, shall meet therequirements of Specification D3311 or shall be of a provendesign and shall allow a smooth transition of fluid flow fromone direction to another. Specialty fittings or fittings wit

36、hlaying lengths exceed those shown in Specification D3311shall not be excluded. For these fittings, laying lengths shall beprovided by the manufacturer.5.2.6 CleanoutsAll polyethylene fitting cleanouts havingfemale threads shall be supplied with polyethylene plugs tosuit.5.2.7 Cleanouts, cleanout pl

37、ugs, and caps, as commonlyused in the manufacturers drainage system, shall have a threadsize and depth sufficient to ensure that the minimum waterwaysizes are maintained.5.2.8 TrapsAll traps shall have a minimum water seal of2 in. (50 mm).5.3 Chemical ResistancePipe fitting materials shall beevaluat

38、ed in accordance with Practices D543, Procedures I andII, using the chemicals listed in 7.3. The weight change shallnot exceed 2 % nor shall apparent tensile strength change bymore than 10 %. In cases where there is a change in theapparent tensile strength greater than 10 %, a further evaluationshal

39、l be made after removal from the chemical, and condition-ing for 72 h. If after 72 h there is a minimum of 90 % recoveryof tensile strength as compared to the unexposed specimen, andthat figure is within 610 % of the original tensile strength ofthe unexposed specimen shall be considered acceptable.5

40、.4 Water Absorption Pipe and fitting materials shall notchange in weight more than 0.50 % when used in accordancewith 7.4.5.5 System Integrity:5.5.1 Fused joints, (including butt-fused and electrofusedfollowing practices described in Practices F2620 and F1290respectively), and pipe associated with t

41、hem shall withstand apressure of 50 psi (0.35 MPa) without leaking when tested inaccordance with 7.5.1.5.5.2 Mechanical joints shall withstand a pressure of 14.5psi (0.10 MPa) without leaking when tested in accordance with7.5.2).NOTE 3Mechanical joints include transition, compression, threaded,and o

42、ther mechanical type joints.5.5.3 Mechanical joints shall show no evidence of separa-tion at the joint under force P when tested in accordance with7.6.1, nor shall they leak or show any other damage whentested in accordance with 7.6.2. Two fittings shall be tested andboth shall pass.5.6 Sealing Ring

43、s:5.6.1 Elastomeric sealing rings shall meet the requirementsof Specification F477.5.6.1.1 The basic polymer shall be natural rubber, syntheticelastomer, or a blend of both.5.6.1.2 The sealing rings shall be designed with an adequatecompressive force, so as to affect a positive seal under allcombina

44、tions of joint tolerances.5.7 FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of splitting,cracking, or breaking when the pipe is tested in accordancewith 7.8.5.8 Impact ResistanceThe impact resistance testing shallbe in accordance with 7.9.6. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance6.1 The manufacture of fittings a

45、nd pipe shall be in accor-dance with good commercial practice so as to produce fittingsmeeting the requirements of this specification. Fittings andpipe shall be homogeneous throughout and free from visiblecracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or injurious defects. Thefittings and pipe shall be as unifo
