3、 andcross-linked (PEX) reinforcing rings for use with cross-linkedpolyethylene (PEX) plastic tubing in38,12,58,34, 1, 1-14 ,112in. and 2 in. nominal diameters that meet the requirements ofSpecifications F 876 and F 877. These fittings are intended foruse in 100 psi (690 kPa) cold- and hot-water dist

4、ributionsystems operating at temperatures up to and including 180F(82C). The system is comprised of a PEX reinforcing ring anda cold expansion fitting. Included are the requirements formaterials, workmanship, dimensions, and markings to be usedon the fitting components. The components covered by thi

5、sspecification are intended for use in residential and commer-cial, hot and cold, potable water distribution systems as well assealed central heating, including under-floor-heating systems.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses ar

Classification4.1 This specification covers one class of cold expansionfittings with PEX reinforcing rings suitable for use w

Materials and Manufacture5.1 Cold expansion fittings shall be made from one of thefollowing materials:5.1.1 Brass:5.1.1.1 Machined BrassMachined brass fittings shall bemade from material meeting the requirements of Specifi

The material shall be unreinforced polysulfone (

23、group01, class 1, grade 2), or polyphenylsulfone (group 3, class 1,grade 2.) Material may also be an unreinforced blend of thesetwo materials with the polyphenylsulfone continuous phasecomprising 55 to 80% of the blend.5.1.2.3 Clean rework material of the same commercialdesignation, generated for th

24、e manufacturers own productionmay be used by the same manufacturer, provided the fittingsmeet all of the requirements of this specification. Reworkmaterial shall not be introduced at a ratio exceeding 25%.5.2 Reinforcing rings shall be made from PEX materialmeeting the performance requirements of 6.

25、1.5.3 Stainless Steelfittings shall be made from materialmeeting the requirements of SpecificationA351, stainless steelUNS No. J92800.5.4 Wrought CopperWrought copper fittings shall bemade from material meeting the requirements of SpecificationB75for one of the following coppers: copper UNS C10200,C

26、10300, C10800, or C12200.6. General Requirements6.1 The following sections of Specification F 877 constitutea part of this specification.6.1.1 Requirements,6.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1, above, appear

27、s in this specification, itcontains additional requirements that supplement those appear-ing in F 877.6.3 System Performance Requirements:6.3.1 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings, PEX reinforcing rings and PEX tubing.Fittings and reinforcing rings shall meet the

28、 material anddimensional requirements of this specification. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specifications F 876 and F 877.Assembly of test specimens shall be in accordance with 10.1.Each assembly shall contain at least two joints. Use separatesets of assemblies for each performance test r

29、equirement.6.3.2 DimensionsAny randomly selected fitting or fittingsand PEX reinforcing rings shall be used to determine dimen-sions. Measurements shall be made in accordance with TestMethod D 2122, except determine diameter by making mea-surements at four locations spaced at approximately 45 aparta

30、round the circumference. Inspection and gauging of solderjoint ends shall be accordance with ANSI B16.18, ANSIB16.22, or Manufacturers Standardization Society SP-104.7. Performance Requirements7.1 PEX Reinforcing Rings:7.1.1 DensityWhen determined in accordance with 11.1,the PEX reinforcing rings sh

31、all have a density in the rangefrom 926 to 940 kg/m3.7.1.2 Degree of Cross-linkingWhen tested in accordancewith 11.2, the degree of cross-linking for PEX reinforcing ringsshall be within the range from 70 to 89% inclusive.7.1.3 Stabilizer Migration ResistanceWhen tested in ac-cordance with 11.3, the

32、 time t2, shall be at least 50% of thetime, t1.8. Dimensions8.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tol-erances of fittings and PEX reinforcing rings shall be as shownin Figs. 1 and 2 and Fig. 4 when measured in accordance with6.3.2.8.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of anyopening

34、, ANSI B16.18 orMSS SP-104.8.1.3 Tapered Threaded EndsFitting threads shall beright-hand conforming to ANSI B1.20.1. They shall be taperthreads (NPT).9. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance9.1 The fittings shall be made from compounds that arehomogeneous throughout. The sealing surfaces of the inserts

35、hall be smooth and free of foreign material. The fitting wallsshall be free of cracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions,or other defects that are visible to the naked eye and that affectwall integrity.10. Assembly10.1 Cold Expansion JointsFittings shall be joined toPEX tubing by the contra

36、ction of the tubing and reinforcingring over the insert of the cold expansion fitting. Fittings andPEX reinforcing rings shall meet the dimensional and materialrequirements of this standard. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specification F 876 or F 877.10.2 Expansion ToolThe expansion tool s

37、hall expand thePEX tubing and reinforcing ring to a maximum inside diameteras listed in Table 1. The expanded tubing shall be round toensure uniform contraction of the tubing around the coldexpansion fitting. The expansion tool shall be inspected forwear according to the manufacturers instructions.1

38、0.3 Procedure:10.3.1 Assembly of ConnectionsAffix the cold expansionfitting to the PEX tubing by sliding the PEX reinforcing ringonto the tubing and positioning the ring so that the end of thering overhangs the end of the tubing a maximum of116 in. (1.6mm). Insert the expansion head into the tubing

39、as far as it willgo. Holding the tool so that the centerline of the expansionhead is approximately in line with the centerline of the tubing,operate the tool until the tubing and reinforcing ring are fullyexpanded. After completing the expansion process, remove theexpansion tool and insert the cold

45、s notfully inserted to its shoulder or tube stop or the reinforcing ringwas not placed in accordance with 10.3.1, remove the tubingand ring from the fitting and trim 2 in. from the tubing.
