Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers critical characteristics of lowvelocity resilient material project

3、iles (herein referred to asLVRM projectiles) made of a resilient material, and shall havea diameter no smaller than 20 mm (0.7874 in) and no greaterthan 30 mm (1.18 in.), with a hardness no greater than 75 Shore00 in accordance with Specification D2240. This specificationhelps define whether a proje

4、ctile is suitable for use with a lowvelocity projectile marker (herein referred to as LVP marker asdefined in Specification F2574). The weight of the LVRMprojectile is not to exceed 4.0 g. Furthermore, this specificationestablishes minimum warning and package labeling to helpensure that the LVRM pro

5、jectiles are used in a safe manner andthat the risk of injury is reduced.1.2 A LVRM projectile is not a paintball as defined inSection 2.1.2 of Specification F1979.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard. The values given in parentheses are for informationonly.1.4 This st

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 low velocity projectile markerdevice specificallydesigned to discharg

The device is some-times referred to as a low velocity projectile gun as defined inSpecification F2574.3.1.2 low velocity resilient material ballany spherical,ovoid, or ellipsoidal object. The term “ball also includes anymultisided object formed by connecting planes into a genera

11、llyspherical ovoid, or ellipsoidal shape that is designated orintended to be used as a ball. A “ball” can be a LVRMprojectile.3.1.3 low velocity resilient material projectileobject pro-pelled by means of a discharge mechanism capable of storingand releasing energy under the control of the operator c

12、om-prised of a resilient material, and have a diameter no smallerthan 20 mm (0.7874 in) and no greater than 30 mm (1.18 in.).The hardness of the LVRM projectile is to be no greater than75 Shore 00 in accordance with Specification D2240. General Requirements4.1 Must be made of a resilient material.4.2 Must have a diameter no smaller than 20 mm (0.7874in.) and no greater than 30 mm (1.18 in.).4.3 Hardness of projectile must not be greater than 75 Shore00 in accordance with Speci

20、fication D2240.4.4 The weight is not to exceed 4.0 g.4.5 No projectile intended to be expelled shall have anysharp edges or sharp points.4.6 No projectile expelled shall have a tip radius less than0.08 in. (2 mm).5. Packaging and Package Marking5.1 General Instructions:5.1.1 Warnings, instructions,

21、and the name and address ofthe manufacturer or distributor shall appear on the exterior ofeach point of sale container in which a manufacturer packagesits LVRM projectiles.5.1.2 The packaging of all LVP markers shall contain acautionary statement. The statement shall be placed promi-nently on the pa

22、ckage and set distinctively apart from otherwording or designs.5.1.3 The label design, the use of vignettes, or the proximityof other labeling or lettering shall not obscure or renderinconspicuous any labeling statement.5.1.4 All labeling statements shall appear on the principaldisplay panel and at

23、minimum be in the English language.5.1.5 Prominence of the statement shall be achieved byplacement within the borders of a rectangle and by use of asuitable contrasting background. The statement shall be inuppercase bold face letters of a size bearing a reasonablerelationship to the other type on th

24、e main panel, but no lessthan 8-point type. The letters in the signal word shall be at least50 % larger than the letters in the other words in the cautionarystatement. The signal word shall be preceded by a safety alertsymbol. It is composed of an equilateral triangle surroundingan exclamation mark.

25、 The base of the safety alert symbol shallbe on the same horizontal line as the base of the letters of thesignal word. The height of the safety alert symbol shall equalor exceed the signal word height. The signal word shall be inblack letters on an orange background. The solid triangle of thesafety

26、alert symbol shall be black and the exclamation pointshall be orange. The cautionary statement shall have eitherblack lettering on a white background or white lettering on ablack background. When special circumstances limit the use ofthe warning to two colors, the colors assigned to the signalword b

27、ackground may also be used for the cautionary state-ment letters, provided that they contrast with the backgroundcolor of the product. When special circumstances preclude theuse of safety colors on base materials such as wood, cardboard,metal, plastic, etc., the marking used should (when feasible)co

28、ntrast with the background color of the base material.5.2 Warning InformationThe following warning informa-tion or its equivalent shall appear as defined in 5.1.5.2.1 In accordance with Specification F963 items thatcontain a non-spherical shape projectile for use with a LVPmarker that fits within th

31、ombine information, if thecondensed statement contains all of the information necessaryto describe the potential hazard associated with each product.For products that contain a non-spherical and a sphericalprojectile that fits within the small parts cylinder (Fig. 1), onlythe signal word and stateme

32、nt of hazard may be combined.5.2.4 These projectiles are intended only for use with a LVPmarker as defined in Specification F2574.5.2.5 Full face protection designed specifically for paintballuse is mandatory at all times for all persons who are withinrange in accordance with Specification F1776.5.2

33、.6 Failure to follow the rules for safe play and theinstructions and recommendations in this specification mayresult in serious injury.5.3 Do not ingest.6.
