3、ation of solid and composite stainless steel electrodes (both aswire and strip) for gas metal arc welding, submerged arc welding, and other fusion welding processes. It also includeswire and rods for use in gas tungsten arc welding. Classification is based on chemical composition of the filler metal

4、.Additional requirements are included for manufacture, sizes, lengths, and packaging. A guide is appended to the specifi-cation as a source of information concerning the classification system employed and the intended use of the stainless steelfiller metal.This specification makes use of both U.S. C

5、ustomary Units and the International System of Units (SI). 9、ry consensus standards that have been developed in accordance with the rules of theAmerican National Standards Institute (ANSI). When AWS American National Standards are either incorporated in, ormade part of, documents that are included in federal or state laws and regulations, or the regulations o

10、f other governmen-tal bodies, their provisions carry the full legal authority of the statute. In such cases, any changes in those AWS standardsmust be approved by the governmental body having statutory jurisdiction before they can become a part of those laws andregulations. In all cases, these stand

11、ards carry the full legal authority of the contract or other document that invokes theAWS standards. Where this contractual relationship exists, changes in or deviations from requirements of an AWS stan-dard must be by agreement between the contracting parties.AWS American National Standards are dev

12、eloped through a consensus standards development process that bringstogether volunteers representing varied viewpoints and interests to achieve consensus. Classification3.1 The welding materials covered by this specification are classified according to chemical composition and productform. The first two designator

36、s are “ER” for solid wires that may be used as electrodes or rods; “EC” for composite coredor stranded wires; and “EQ” for strip electrodes (see Table 1).3.2 Materials may be classified under more than one classification provided they meet all the requirements of thoseclassifications as specified in

37、 Table 1.4. AcceptanceAcceptance6of the material shall be in accordance with the provisions of AWS A5.01M/A5.01 (ISO 14344:2002 MOD).5. CertificationBy affixing the AWS specification and classification designations to the packaging, or the classification to the product,the manufacturer certifies tha

38、t the product meets the requirements of this specification.76. Rounding-Off ProcedureFor the purpose of determining compliance with the requirements of this standard, the actual test values obtained shallbe subjected to the rounding-off rules of ASTM E 29 or Rule A in Clause B.3 of ISO 80000-1 (the

39、results are the same).If the measured values are obtained by equipment calibrated in units other than those of the specified limit, the measuredvalues shall be converted to the units of the specified limit before rounding off. If an average value is to be compared to the specified limit, rounding of

40、f shall be done only after calculating the average. An observed or calculated value shall be rounded to the nearest unit in the last right-hand place of figures used in expressing the limiting values for otherquantities. The rounded-off results shall fulfill the requirements for the classification u
