8、ty StandardsAll standards (codes, specifications, recommended practices, methods, classifications, and guides) of the AmericanWelding Society (AWS) are voluntary consensus standards that have been developed in accordance with the rules of theAmerican National Standards Institute (ANSI). When AWS Ame

9、rican National Standards are either incorporated in, ormade part of, documents that are included in federal or state laws and regulations, or the regulations of other govern-mental bodies, their provisions carry the full legal authority of the statute. In such cases, any changes in those AWSstandard

10、s must be approved by the governmental body having statutory jurisdiction before they can become a part ofthose laws and regulations. 47、ng operators.Witness. Witness is the observing of something.4. Levels for QualificationThere are three levels of qualifications for plastics weld-ing inspection personnel. These levels are:4.1 Associate Plastics Welding Inspector (APWI). Aperson meeting the qualification requirements of 6.1 andClaus

48、e 7.4.2 Plastics Welding Inspector (PWI). A person meet-ing the qualification requirements of 6.2 and 7.4.3 Senior Plastics Welding Inspector (SPWI). A per-son meeting the qualification requirements of 6.3 andClause 7.5. Functions5.1 Duties. The welding inspectors specific duties shallbe defined by

49、the employer.AWS G1.6:200635.1.1 APWI. The APWI shall be able to performinspections and prepare reports under the direct super-vision of an SPWI or PWI, within visible and audiblerange, and as defined in 5.2. It is the SPWI or PWI,however, who has ultimate responsibility for determin-ing if welded assemblies conform to workmanship andacceptance criteria.5.1.2 PWI. The PWI shall be able to perform inspec-tions or to verify that the work inspected, and recordsmaintained, conform to the requirements of the applica-ble standards, and as defined in 5.2.5.1.3 SPWI.
