、 been prepared under the direction of the Machinery and Components Standards Policy Committee to provide a range of precision finished tubes which are suitable for use in hydraulic fluid power systems. BS7416 makes direct reference to BS3602-1 (for the manufacture, chemical analysis and mechanical p
、roperties of the steel, inspection and testing of the tube in addition to supply conditions) and defines specific variations to that standard, e.g.dimensions and tolerances, surface texture and pressure test. The dimensions, tolerances and surface texture are compatible with German Standard DIN2391-
、1 and DIN2391-2. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. Summary of pages This do

、I 11-1999 1 1 Scope This British Standard specifies requirements for a range of precision finished, plain end, seamless, cold-drawn, low carbon steel tubes suitable for use in hydraulic fluid power systems. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back
、 cover. 2 General Unless otherwise stated in this standard, the tubing shall be cold finished seamless tube (CFS) grade360 or430, category2, complying with BS3602-1 with the additional requirements and variations specified in clauses3, 4 and5. 3 Dimensions and tolerances The dimensions and tolerance
、s of the tube shall comply with those given inTable 1. NOTETubes for use with compression couplings should be ordered according to outside diameter and thickness dimensions. 4 Surface finish When measured in accordance with BS1134-1, the finished tube shall have an external surface texture as follow
、s: a) 2.5m R aon tubesk 6mm wall thickness; b) 4.0m R aon tubes6mm wall thickness; measured in the longitudinal direction. 5 Leak tightness Each tube shall be tested by and shall comply with one of the following: a) hydraulic leak tightness test at a pressure of150% of the design pressure given in T
、able 1 in accordance with12.4 of BS3602-1:1987; or b) eddy current test in accordance with Appendix E of BS3602-1:1987. 6 Marking All tubes shall be marked in accordance with clause17 of BS3602-1:1987, except for itemb) of17.2, which shall read as follows: the designation 1) , i.e.BS7416:1991: CFS36
、0 or BS7416:1991: CFS430. 1) Marking BS7416:1991 on or in relation to a product represents a manufacturers declaration of conformity, i.e.a claim by or on behalf of the manufacturer that the product meets the requirements of the standard. The accuracy of the claim is therefore solely the responsibil
、ity of the person making the claim. Such a declaration is not to be confused with third party certification of conformity, which may also be desirable.BS7416:1991 2 BSI 11-1999 Table 1 Tube dimensions and tolerances Tube outside diameter Nominal wall thickness Tube inside diameter Design pressure No
