18、t to determine the cable tensile performance used in analogue and digital communication systems. It is to be read in conjunction with Part 3-1 of EN 50289, which contains essential provisions for its application. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated referenc

21、cables - Part 1-2: Definitions 3 Definitions For the purposes of this European Standard the definitions of EN 50290-1-2 apply. 4 Test method 4.1 Sample The sample shall be of a length sufficient to carry out the test specified 5 Test equipment The test equipment shall consist of a tensile strength m
22、easuring apparatus that is able to accommodate the minimum length to be tested. Transfer devices may be used and a load cell with a maximum error of 3% of its maximum range. Care should be taken that the specific method of clamping the cable should not affect the results (see Figure 1). 6 Procedure
23、- Load the cable onto the tensile rig and secure it. At both ends of the tensile rig, a method of securing the cable shall be used which uniformly locks the cable so that all components of the cable are restricted in their movement. For most cable constructions clamping on cable is practical. - For
24、aerial cable types, if required by the Detail Specification, fixing of the cable shall be made by means of the anchoring devices relevant to the type of cable considered. For certain heavily armoured cables, a clamping device involving a stocking grip or similar anchoring device may be used.1)At dra
25、ft stage.- 5 - EN50289-3-16:2001 - Connect the cable element(s)/fibre(s) under test to the measurement apparatus. - The tension shall be continuously increased to the required value given in the Detail Specification. 7 Requirements 7.1 Coaxial cables After the load has been removed the magnitude of
26、the impedance irregularity introduced by the test shall be measured by a pulse or TDR method. After the test, the reflection characteristics shall be within the limiting values specified in the Detail Specification. 7.2 Symmetrical cables After the test, the transmission characteristics shall be wit
27、hin the limiting values specified in the Detail Specification. 7.3 Optical cables After the test, the attenuation characteristics and/or fibre strain shall be within the limiting values specified in the Detail Specification. 8 Details to be specified The Detail Specification shall include: - allowed
28、 change of attenuation and/or fibre strain at a specified wavelength as a function of the load; - rate of tension increase; - temperature.
