The series consists of the three followi
、ng parts: Part1: Definitions and General Requirements; Part2: Methods of Test; Part3: Specifications for Individual Materials. 1 Scope This sheet of the standard gives requirements for several types of rigid mica materials based on mica splittings or mica paper for application in electrical heating
、equipment. These products may be made from muscovite or phlogopite mica with a suitable bonding medium. The binder may be totally driven off in service, giving a material which needs to be supported, or may remain totally or partially, giving a self-supporting material; in this case, the binder shal
、l have the necessary resistance to the operating temperature. The products may be supplied in sheets, strips or flat pieces. The minimum nominal thickness is0.30mm (mica splittings) and0.20mm (mica paper). 2 General requirements The material as supplied shall be of uniform hardness, free from soft p
、atches and foreign matter. The grade and visual characteristics of the splittings, as well as the nature of the mica paper and the bonding medium, shall be agreed between supplier and purchaser. 3 Detection of defects and conducting particles in sheets Until a method of detection of defects has been
、 agreed for IEC Publication371-2: Specification forInsulating Materials based on Mica, Part2:Methods of Test, the accepted type and number of defects is subject to agreement between supplier and purchaser. 4 Thickness: measurements and tolerances The thickness shall be measured using the testspecime
、n and procedure defined in IECPublication371-2. The thickness (central value), in millimetres, shall not depart from the nominal thickness by more than the tolerances given in Table I and Table II. These tables also give the permitted differences between individual measurements on the same specimen.
