20、s within the scope of IEC technical committee 48. This test may also be used for similar devices when specified in a detail specification. The object of this test is to detail a standard test method to assess the ability of a component to carry its specified current, at room temperature, without exc
21、eeding a specified temperature rise. 1.2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this part of IEC 60512. For dated references, subsequent amend- ments to, or revisions of, any of these publications do n

However, parties to agreements based on this part of IEC 60512 are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies. Members of

IEC 60512-1-1, Connectors for electronic equipment Tests and measurements Part 1-1: General examination Test 1a: Visual examination 2 Preparation of the specimen Three specimens shall be used, unless otherwise specified. The
24、 specimens are to be wired with a minimum length of wire, as specified in table 1, and mounted, as specified in the detail specification. The manufacturers recommended, or industry standards, wiring method and tooling shall be used, unless otherwise stated in the detail specification. The specimens
25、shall be fitted with a temperature-sensing device, whose thermal mass shall not significantly affect the temperature measurement. This temperature-sensing device shall be mounted as near as practicable to the hottest part of the contact system, unless otherwise specified. A non-contact temperature m
26、easurement device may be used. NOTE Care must be taken to protect the specimen under test from draughts or other artificial cooling. This may be achieved either by the use of an enclosure or by ensuring that the laboratory is draught-free. If d.c. current is used, avoid voltage bias influence on the

If the specimens require the use of printed circuits, the characteristics of these should be given in the detail specification. 3 Test method The specified test current shall be applied simultaneously to all contacts of the specimen, unless otherwise specified in th
29、e detail specification. The current shall be maintained until thermal stability is achieved. This is defined as when three consecutive measurements of temperature rise, taken at 5 min intervals, do not differ by more than 2 K. The current shall be maintained for a period of 1 h after stability is re

Care shall be taken to minimize radiant heat effects. 4 Requirements a) Measurement during the test Each contact of the specimen shall be capable of carrying the specified test current for a period of 1 h without exceeding the specifi
