30、9 3 Introduction Several types of modulation may be used for the transmission of the main digital signal. Of these, only measurements applicable to systems using phase modulation or phase and amplitude modulation, e.g.PSK and n-QAM, will be covered in this section of IEC835-2, since these modulation
31、 types are employed in the majority of digital radio-relay systems. The digital transmitter is preceded by a transmit signal processor which modifies the multiplexed digital to facilitate radio transmission. Similarly, the receiver is followed by a receive signal processor in order to recover the di
32、gital signal. Measurements on these signal processors are dealt with in IEC835-2-5, but in order to clarify their main functions and interconnection points in transmitter/receiver measurements, examples are given inFigure 1. A further function of signal processors, not shown inFigure 1, may be the c
33、ombination and separation of more than one bit-stream. The interconnection points between the transmit processor and modulators and also between the receive processor and demodulator are not always accessible. Digital transmitter and receiver measurements are conveniently grouped into three parts fo
34、r testing; measurements on transmitters including modulators are given in3, measurements on receivers including demodulators in clause4, whilst clause5 deals with transmit-receive section (or“hop”) measurements. For some of the parameters, only those aspects related to the fact that the measurement
35、is carried out on a transmitter or receiver are given, and reference is made to other sections of IEC835-2 for detailed methods of measurements. All measurements should be carried out under specified environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity, in accordance with IEC835-2-1. 1 Scope T
36、his Section of IEC 835-2 deals with methods of measurement for transmitters including modulators, and receivers including demodulators, used in digital radio-relay systems. Measurements for adaptive equalizers are given in IEC 835-2-8. Methods of measurement for the a.g.c.characteristic, selectivity
37、 and noise figure and receiver local oscillator frequency are generally applicable only when the receiver i.f.output is accessible. This may not be the case for receivers used in systems having a microwave demodulator or a low bit rate, e.g.below 2 Mbit/s. 2 Normative references The following normat

In multi r.f.channel systems, the transmitting filter, although it may be a part of the branch

Measuring instruments should be connected either to this point or, if available, to an equivalent test point. During all of the measurements to be describ

Measurements related to the output port of the i.f.modulator, if applicable, are not included. Nevertheless, such measurements may be required for i.f.modulators. 3.2 Output frequency See IEC835-1-2. The frequency meter is connected via a suitable r.f.attenuator to the transmitter output. Modulation should be disabled to obtain ac.w.carrier. 3.3 R.F.output spect
