30、vices covered by this Standard are intended to be used in water supply systems under (a)continuous pressure in accessible locations; or (b) intermittent pressure in recreational vehicles.1.3In this Standard, “shall” is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to sati

37、he preset flow rate.Note: Water flow through a shut-off device is usually limited to a factory preset flow rate, which is the flow rate necessary to operate the supply fitting or appliance. Any flow through the shut-off device in excess of the preset flow rate will automatically activate the device
38、and shut off the water. Shut-off devices normally reset once normal flow is restored.Flexible water connector (flexible connector) a non-rigid tube or hose with end connections used for connecting a water supply to a fixture, fitting, or appliance.Maximum allowable system flow rate the flow rate of
39、the piping system at the point of discharge from the supply fitting or appliance to which the flexible connector is connected.4 General requirementsIn addition to the requirements of this Standard, flexible connectors with excess flow shut-off devices shall comply with Clauses 4 and 5.3 of ASME A112
40、.18.6/CSA B125.6.5 Test methods5.1 Intermittent impulse pressure test5.1.1 Performance requirementWhen a flexible connector with excess flow shut-off device is tested in accordance with Clause 5.1.2, the shut-off flow rate shall be as specified in Table 1. In addition, the flexible connector with ex
41、cess flow shut-off device shall(a) withstand intermittent impulse pressure not exceeding 1.280 KPa (185 psi); and(b) not leak.5.1.2 ProcedureThe intermittent impulse pressure test shall be conducted as follows:(a)Before testing, determine the specimen shut-off flow rate with the water flow throttled
42、 downstream at a static supply pressure of 550 35 kPa (80 5 psi) by increasing the flow rate until the shut-off device closes.(b) Test the specimen in accordance with Clause 5.2.2 of ASME A112.18.6/CSA B125.6 at the following flow rates:(i) 3.8 1.9 L/min (1.0 0.5 gpm) for flexible connectors for ice
43、 makers; and(ii) 7.6 1.9L/min (2.0 0.5 gpm) for flexible connectors for all other applications.(c) Test the specimen in accordance with Clause 5.2.2 of this Standard every 10 000 cycles and at the end of the 100 000 cycles.(d) Test the specimen in accordance with Clause 5.3.1.3 of ASME A112.18.1/CSA
44、 B125.1.5.2 Shut-off test5.2.1 Performance requirementWhen a flexible connector is tested in accordance with Clause 5.2.2, it shall not leak more than 10 mL/min (0.34 fl oz/min). 45、thexcess flow shut-off devicesJuly 2011 35.2.2 ProcedureThe shut-off test shall be conducted as follows:(a)Install the specimen in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.(b) Apply a static water pressure of 310 35 kPa (45 5 psi) with water at 82 3 C (180 5F) for 1 min.(c) Activate the shut-o
46、ff device of the specimen by increasing the flow rate and allow excess water to drain for 30 s.(d) Place a pan or bucket under the specimen to collect the remaining water for 1 h after the shut-off device has been activated.(e) Measure the amount of water collected during the period specified in Ite
47、m (d).(f) Repeat the procedure using a static water pressure of 550 35 for kPa (80 5 psi).5.3 Flow test5.3.1 Performance requirementWhen a flexible connector is tested in accordance with Clause 5.3.2, the minimum flow rate shall be as specified in Table 1.5.3.2 ProcedureThe flow test shall be conduc
48、ted as follows:(a)Bend the specimen 180 around a 127 mm (5.0 in) mandrel.(b) Measure the flow through the specimen with water flowing at a pressure of 210 35 kPa (30 5 psi).Note: The specimen should be connected to a fitting that will allow at least the minimum flow listed in Table1 at the test pres
49、sure while avoiding activation of the shut-off device.5.4 Hydrostatic seal test5.4.1 Performance requirementWhen a flexible connector is tested in accordance with Clause 5.4.2, it shall not leak more than 20 mL/min (0.68 oz/min).5.4.2 ProcedureThe hydrostatic seal test shall be conducted as follows:(a)Activate the shut-off device of the specimen.(b) Pressurize the inlet of the specimen to 860 35 kPa (125 5 psi) with water at 82 3 C (180 5F).(c) Maintain the pressure for 5 min and collect any water lea
