18、r use with natural gas and propane. CGA, founded in 1907, represents distributors, transmission companies, producers, pipeline contractors, manufacturers, and allied setvice organizations. CGA set up a standards writing, inspection, and certification programme in the mid-1950s at a time when natural
19、 gas service was being extended to Eastern Canada and the West Coast. The standards programme now embraces more than 90 standards for gas appliances and acces sor i es. Committees that write the standards include representation from all interests and are so constituted that no one interest may domin
20、ate. The interests represented indude consumers, manufacturers, utilities, governmental inspection authorities, and certification organizations. Standards are prepared using the consensus principle with effort applied to reconcile differing .opinions. Government inspection authorities having jurisdi
21、ction also bal tot on the standards as members of the Interprovincial Gas Advisory Council (IGAC). The CGA Standards Advisory Committee (SAC) reviews committee structures and procedures to determine that a standard meets the criteria of the Standards Council of Canada. CGA operates a certification p
22、rogramme for fuel-fired products which is accepted by all Canadian inspection authorities and accredited by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition, through the Canadian Gas Research Institute (CGRI), the gas industry is pursuing the improvement of equipment and the development of new products.
23、 Data from these projects is available to Standards Committees for review and consideration. Recommendations for new standards and revisions to existing standards may come from any source. 31、s by the Coulometric Method, ASTM 8504; 3. A cadmium coating not less than 0.001 inch (0.0254 mm) thick on both surfaces. Thickness of coating shall be established in accordance with ASTM 8487. ASTM B499, or ASTM B504, 4. A zinc coating conforming with clauses 1.5.1-bl or -b2, with one coat of outdo
32、or paint as specified in clause 1.5.1-b3, or 5. A cadmium coating not less than 0.00075 inch (0.01905 mm) thick on both surfaces with one coat of outdoor paint on both surfaces, or not less than 0.005 inch (0.0127 mm) thick on both surfaces, with two coats of outdoor paint on both surfaces. The thic
33、kness of the cadmium coating shall be established in accordance with ASTM B487, ASTM 8499 or ASTM 3504 and the paint shall be as specified in clause 1.5.1-b3. b. At least 0.0508# inch (1.291 mm) thick: 1. Hot-dipped mill galvanized sheet steel confor- ming with the coating designation C60 or A60, sp
34、ecified in Table I of ASTM A525, with not less than 40% of the zinc on either side. 2. The weight of zinc coating may be determined by any suitable method However, in case of question, the weight of coating shall be established in accordance with ASTM AN. 35、oating or an annealed zinc coating which is bent or similarly formed after annealing shall be additionally painted in the bent or formed area if the bending or forming process damages the zinc coating, except on the inside surfaces of a cabinet or enclosure not exposed to water when tested in accord
36、ance with clause 2.1.1. (This shall also apply to annealed coatings complying with clauses 1.5.1-a2 and -b2); A zinc coating, other than that provided on hot-dipped mill galvanized sheet steel, uniformly applied to an average thickness of not less than 0.00047 inch (0.01042 mm) on each surface, with
37、 a minimum thickness of 0.00034 inch (0.00864 mm). The thickness of the coating shall be established in accordance with ASTM B487, ASTM 8499, ASTM B504, or 3. Two coats of organic finish of the epoxy or alkyd-resin type or other outdoor paint on both surfaces. The suitability of the paint may be det
38、ermined by consideration of its composi- tion or by corrosion tests if these are con- sidered necessary. Non-ferrous outside portions of casings and vent caps may be employed without special corrosion protection. The thickness of the material is to be judged on the basis of its strength and rigidity
39、. 1.6 COMBUSTION AIR AND VENTILATION 1.6.1 Compartments housing gas piping and controls shall be adequately venti I ated. 1.6.2 Combustion air for burner and pilot operation shaii not be drawn from the circulating air stream, unless ade quate provision is made to preclude contamination of the circul
40、ating air stream under any condition. 1.6.3 Where air for combustion is drawn through removable panels, such panels shall be designed so as to pre- vent their being attached in an improper position or being interchanged with other panels on the same appliance in a manner that may interfere with its
41、performance. 1.6.4 All outside air inlet openings, including draft hood relief openings, shall be of a size which will prevent the entrance of a 33164 inch (13.1 rnm) diameter rod but permit the entance of a 114 inch (6.4 mm) diameter rod. $ This corresponds to “io 16 U 5 Standard gauge with all app

43、than 1/4 inch (6.4 mm). 1.6.5 The bottom of any combustion air opening shall not be less than 12 inches (305 mm) above the bottom of any cabinet nor less than 12 inches (305 mm) above any other surface of the cabinet which ruld support snow, ice or debris. 1.7 OBSERVATION OF MAIN BURNER AND PILOT FL
44、AMES Provision shall be made to readily permit observation of the pilot ffame(s) or ignitor, where a pilot is not used, and the main burner. This means for observation shall not require the removal of a panel where the removal of such panel will adversely affect combustion when the appliance is test
45、ed under windfree conditions. 1.8 GAS CONTROL VENT TERMINATION The termination of a gas control vent line shall be con- structed or positioned to minimize the possibility of blockage by water, insects or foreign material. 1.9 APPLIANCE OPENINGS 1.9.1 Compartment doors shall be constructed 50 that th
46、ey cannot be interchanged where their interchanging would interfere with combustion and proper operation of the a pp I ia n ce. 1.9.2 Any access door or panel shall be constructed so as to prevent the accumulation of water within the appliance when subjected to the rain test specified under clause 2
47、.1.1. 7.9.3 Any access door or panel shall require the use of a tool to open. 1.10.2 Suppiementary electrical heating for a control compartment shall comply with the current CSA Standard C22.2 No. 3 ELECTRICAL FEATURE5 OF FUEL BURNING EQUIPMENT. 1.11 ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND WlRlNC 1.11.1 Electrica
48、l components and wiring shall comply with the current CSA Standard C22.2 No. 3 ELECTRICAL FEATURES OF FUEL 8URNlNG EQUIPMENT. 1.11.2 Appliances shall have all controls and electrical wiring requiring protection enclosed and adequately pro- tected from climatic conditions. 1.12 MARKING Marking materi
49、al shall be identified by Class number and shall meet the following specification. All metal marking materials shall be corrosion-resistant. All markings shall be suitable for appiication to surfaces upon which they are applied. The designation of any class of marking shall not preclude the use of marking of a lower number class. C
