Abstract. This document covers the requirements for
2、belts for polyester/cotton poplin mens all-weather coats. The belt is worn by male personnel of the US Marine Corps and the US Army. Schedule of sizes. The belts shall be in the following classes and sizes corresponding to sizes of coats with which the belts are worn. Classes Class 1 - Marine Corps

The belt shall be US Marine Corps design shown on Figure 1, having one end pointed on a 45-degree angle a
6、nd the other end square to attach to the buckle with a keeper, and belt fastener on the under side to secure belt to coat. Figure 1 shows general design of the belt and is furnished for information only. In the event of conflict between the figure and the text of this document, the text of this docu
7、ment shall govern. The buckle size shall be 2-1/4 inches. The finished strips for the belt keeper and fastener shall be uniform in width, 1/2 2 1/16 inch wide and topstitched 1/16 inch from each edge. The belt keeper shall be positioned on the belt 6 inches from the unfinished end, and tacked or bar
8、tacked to the under side of the belt on each side of the keeper. The keeper shall finish 2-1/2 +. 1/8 inches. The belt fastener shall be cut to 9-1/2 inches in length, folded under one end of fastener 1-1/2 inches, and stitched together 1/16 to 1/8 inch on both sides and across folded edge. The belt
9、 fastener shall finish on the underside of the belt. The interlining shall be positioned to the inside of the belt and fused. The buttonhole shall be a horizontal straight type, 5/8 inch in length, and securely tacked at each end. The gage for stitching shall be uniform in width. The belt shall be e
10、dgestitched on both sides and the pointed end with a double row of stitching 1/16 inch and 1/4 inch gage from seamed and folded edge. The belt shall be 2-1/8 2 1/8 inches wide, and shall be pressed smooth and flat with a heated pressing iron or pressing machine. NOTE: A Sonic Machine may be used to
11、cut the strips to the proper length. Materials. Basic fabric. The basic fabric for the belt shall be a polyester/cotton blend poplin conforming to A-A-50531. The color of the cloth shall be Marine Corps pewter shade 2246 or Army black shade 385 Interlininq. The interlining for the belt shall be a no
12、nwoven fusible cloth of 85% polyester, 15% polyamide or 100% polyester, 1.75 to 2.0 ounces per square yard, polyamide paste dot. The color shall be charcoal for class 1 and charcoal or black for class 2. For optimum results, the fusible material manufacturers recommendations for fusing dwell time, p

The plastic buckle for the belt
14、shall be a 2-1/4 inch general purpose buckle conforming to Class 3 of MIL-B-1860. The color shall be green AF Cable No. 62017 for class 1 and black shade CT62001 for Class 2. Buttons. The button shall be line 24, 4-hole buttons melamine formaldehyde composition. The buttons shall have a glossy finis
15、h and shall be green shade AF Cable No. 62017 for class 1 and black shade CT62001 for class 2. Thread. The polyester/cotton covered thread shall be dyed shade taupe A, Cable No. 66030 for class 1 and shade black AA Cable No. 66043 for class 2 and shall conform to type I of A-A-50199. An approved Qua
16、rpel type water repellent finish consisting of a one- bath application of an emulsified fluorocarbon and a quaternary ammonium salt or a melamine hydrophobe type of repellent shall be used. There shall be no noticeable crystallization of the treatment on the thread surface or any noticeable wicking
17、of the treatment on the thread to adjacent material when sewn. The thread for bartacking, seaming, stitching, and buttonholes shall be ticket no. 50, 2 ply, or ticket no. 70, 2 ply. The thread for button sewing, shall be ticket no. 30, 2 or 3 ply. The dyed thread shall show fastness to wet-dry clean
18、ing and light equal to or better than the standard sample when tested as specified in A-A-50199. When no standard sample is available, the dyed thread shall show “good fastness to wet-dry cleaning and light when tested as specified in A-A-50199. Label. Each belt shall have a non-woven, commercial ty
19、pe label containing identification, instruction and size information. The label shall be acrylic coated, mildew-resistant, and the printing shall show good fastness to dry cleaning. The label shall be printed on the underside of the belt at the center back. As an alternate, a commercially acceptable
20、 hang tag, containing the specified information printed directly on the tag. The tag may be attached with string at the buttonhole or with plastic barb holder near neck end of belt. 21、cts Act information as applicable Label/taq. Each belt shall be individually coded with a type VIII, class 17 of DDD-L-20 label/tag bar code for personal clothing items. The finished belts shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality level
24、s. Product Demonstration Model. When required, offerers shall submit samples of their intended production. The product demonstration model will consist of units independently developed. Product demonstration models will be analyzed and evaluated by the government. Evaluation criteria and basis for a
25、ward are contained in the solicitation. Product demonstration models will be retained by the government. One (1) product demonstration model approved by DPSC under the resultant contract will serve as a manufacturing standard for the corresponding production items delivered under this contract. Offe
26、rers are advised that the product demonstration model does not relieve the successful offerer of his responsibility to perform in accordance with the Commercial Item Description specified above. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the s
28、alient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise pro
29、vided for, under the provisions of the contract. Reliance on contractor quality assurance systems shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Examination. Bel
30、t lots shall be inspected in accordance with “Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes,“ ANSI/ASQC 21.4, published by the American Society for Quality Control. Visual Examination. The belt shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in units of
31、belts The sample unit is one belt. The inspection level shall be II and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 1.0. Defects. The belt shall be examined for the following defects: any hole, cut, tear, color not as specified; any spot or stain (outside); any pleats, puckeri
32、ng or raw edges; thread ends not removed; any fusing delaminated, bubbling of any fused component, any strike through or bleed through, or any resin transfer to belt; label missing, incorrect, or illegible; bar code label/tag omitted or not scannable, human-readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or i
33、llegible; measurement of item not as specified. Dimensional Examination. The finished belt shall conform to the dimensions specified. Any dimension that is not within the established tolerance shall be classified as a defect. The sample unit shall be one belt; the inspection level shall be S-3, and
34、the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5. Packaqinq Examination. The fully packaged shipping containers shall be examined in accordance with defects listed below.
