2、alient Characteristics: Shall be sterile absorbent cotton rolls suitable for use in dental procedures. The rolls shall be sterile when tested in accordance with the USP. The rolls shall be of the following sizes and fifty of the finished rolls shall have the following minimum average weights. MINIMU

4、 of water. The cotton shall be formed into non-collapsible rolls of uniform firmness and consistency. The outer surface of the finished rolls shall be starched or shall be braided with a soft synthetic yarn, or shall be coated with methylcellulose in such a manner as to prevent adhesion or damage to
5、 oral mucous membranes and still be capable of uniform absorption rate. The rolls shall be readily adaptable to mouth contour and shall have a high degree of absorbency. 7、heir appearance or impair their serviceability. Unit. For Size 1 - Box (BX). Fifty absorbent cotton rolls shall be suitably bagged or wrapped and sealed to maintain sterility of contents unless packaged is damaged or opened. One box containing 10 packages of 50 rolls each (500 rolls), as specified,
8、constitutes one unit. As an alternate, 50 absorbent cotton rolls shall be suitably banded in a bundle. Five bundles of 50 rolls each (250 rolls) shall be suitably bagged and sealed to maintain sterility of contents unless package is damaged or opened. One box containing two packages of 250 rolls eac
9、h (500 rolls), as specified, constitutes one unit. For Size 2 - Box (BX). Individual absorbent cotton rolls shall be suitably bagged, wrapped or bundled in groups of not less than 25 rolls nor more than 125 rolls. Each group shall be suitably bagged or wrapped and sealed to maintain sterility of con
10、tents unless package is damaged or opened. One box containing a total of 2000 bagged or wrapped rolls, as specified, constitutes one unit, Quality Assurance Provisions. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall w
20、ithin the tolerance specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard No. 376, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerance specified in the inch/pound units, a re
21、quest should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
