2、rd, having been prepared under the direction of the Building and Civil Engineering Sector Policy and Strategy Committee, was published under the authority of the Standards Policy and Strategy Committee on 20 December 2002 BSI 20 December 2002 ISBN 0 580 41021 8 National foreword This British Standar

3、d is the official English language version of EN 1015-18:2002. EN 1015-18 is the subject of transitional arrangements agreed under the Commission mandate. The Member States have agreed a nominal transition period for the co-existence of the future “harmonized” European Standards and their correspond

4、ing national standard(s). It is intended that this period will comprise a nominal nine month period during which any required changes to national regulations are to be made, followed by a further nominal twelve month period for the implementation of CE marking. At the end of this co-existence period

5、 the national standard(s) will be withdrawn. There is no corresponding UK national standard. Because EN 1015-18 is a supporting standard to the forthcoming “harmonized” European product standard specification EN 998 Specification for mortar for masonry (two part standard) then the above-mentioned c

6、o-existence period will commence upon the date(s) of availability of EN 998 (for whichever part of EN 998 is the later). An estimation of the date of commencement of this period cannot yet be given. The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted by Technical Committee B/519, Masonry and assoc

30、isthegreater,andshalleitherbeobtainedbyreductionofthe bulktestsample(seeEN10152)usingasampledividerorbyquarteringorbypreparationfrom waterandtheotherconstituentsinthelaboratory.Threetestspecimensshallbepreparedfromthe sampleofmortar. 7.2 Laboratorypreparedmortars Thelengthofmixingperiodshallbemeasur

31、edfromthemomentalltheconstituentsareintroduced intothemixer. ThemortarshallbebroughttoadefinedflowvalueasspecifiedinEN10152determinedin accordancewithEN10153andreported. 7.3 Mortars,otherthanlaboratorypreparedmortars Readytousemortars(factorymadewetmortarswhichareretarded),andprebatchedairlime/sand

32、wetmortarswhennotgaugedwithhydraulicbinders,shallbeusedforspecimenpreparationwithin theirspecifiedworkablelife.EN101518:2002(E) 6 Beforetesting,thebatchshallbegentlystirredbyhandusingatrowelorpaletteknife (5.6)for5sto 10stocounteractanyfalsesettingetc.,butwithoutanyadditionalmixingofthebatch. Theflo

33、wvalueofthemortarinthebulktestsampleshallbedeterminedinaccordancewithEN1015 3andreported. 7.4 Preparationandcuringoftestspecimens Preparethreetestspecimenprismswithdimensions160mm 40mm 40mmaccordingto EN101511.Linethebaseofthemetalmouldwithfilterpaperandfillwithmortarandstrikeoffthe surfaceflushwith

34、thetopofthemould.Placealayeroffilterpaperonthemortarsurface.Curethe testspecimensundertheconditionsdescribedinTable1.Attheendofthecuringperiod,demould thespecimens.Sealthefourlongfacesofthespecimensusingthespecifiedsealingmaterial,then breakthemintotwohalves. 38、onofthetest(seeFigure1).Toensurefullimmersionofroughsurfacetextured specimensavoidingtrappingairbubblesbeneaththem,immersetheminaslopingattitude.EN101518:2002(E) 7 Activatethetimingdevice.Maintainthewaterlevelconstantthroughoutthetest. Coverthetraytoavoidevaporationfromthewettestspecimens. Ifvisible

39、wettingoccursonthefreesurfaceofthetestspecimens,stopthetest.Breakthespecimens toensurethattheyarefullysaturated.Iftheyaresaturatedthenweighthetwopiecestogether.Ifnot fullysaturated,repeatthetestwithanewspecimen. NOTE If,whenthespecimenisbroken,itisnotsaturatedacrossthewholearea,itcanbethatthesealing
