12、 AFNOR. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2013, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by April 2013. Attention is drawn to the possibility that so

This document supersedes EN 1316-2:1997. This standard is one of a series of standards concerning round timber (softwoods and hardw

17、012 (E) 4 1 Scope This European Standard specifies a qualitative classification and grade designations for felled round timber of poplar in the form of long poles or logs. The classifications describe quality classes of round timbers for which the intended use is not known. This classification is ap

22、 Round and sawn timber Method of measurement of biological degrade 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in EN 844-1:1995, EN 844-2:1997, EN 844-5:1997, EN 844-7:1997, EN 844-8:1997 and EN 844-10:1998 apply. 4 Qualitative classification 4.1 Gradin

23、g principles Each long pole, log or portion of a round timber individualized by a theoretical crosscut point, is qualified according to its dimensions and to the presence, size, and distribution (e.g. concentration) of specific features. 4.2 Designation of grades Standardized designation of classes

24、includes 3 characters, the last one separated by a dash: BS EN 1316-2:2012EN 1316-2:2012 (E) 5 the first and second characters are the genus initial and first letter in Latin; the third character indicates the quality class. The classification of poplar is divided into three quality classes: Po-A is

25、 an exceptional quality class; Po-B is a normal quality class; Po-C is a quality class, which includes long poles, logs or portions of long poles not permitted in the other quality classes. For class Po-C, more than 40 % of the volume of the wood shall be useable. 4.3 Features to be taken into accou

26、nt for the classification Table 1 gives the features taken into account in this classification and these shall be measured according to EN 1309-2, EN 1310 and EN 1311. A long pole, log or portion of round wood shall be downgraded by its failure to meet the requirements of any single feature. Length

27、and diameter shall be measured using the method stated in EN 1309. A culling may be specified by contract for the following features: bark pocket, burl, buckle, felling shake, shear, dote, rot, canker, carbonized wood, scar, foreign bodies, mistletoe, bird peck, dry side.
