The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted by Technical Committee EPM6, Fibre optics, to Subcommittee EPL/86/2, Interconnecting devices and passive components, w

4、hich has the responsibility to: - aid enquirers to understand the tea - present to the responsible internationalEuropean committee any enquiries on the interpretation, or propods for change, and keep the UK interests informed; - monitor related international and European developments and promulgate

Cross-references Attention is drawn to the fact that CEN and CENELEC standards normally include an annex which lists normative references to international publications with their cor

The British Standards which implement these intedonal or European publications may be found in the BSI Stan but sufficient information should be made available in the manufacturers literature to enable the system designer to assess the degree of hazard. This informa

7、tion shall be given prominence in the detail specification (W. 1.4.2 The assembly instructions, included in the connector package, shall give a prominent warning to the assembler, of the necessary safe work practices. 1.4.3 The responsibility for the safe application of the connector lies with the s

8、ystem design engineer, who should refer to IEC 825. As there is no safety guide for light emitting diodes (LEDs), IEC 825 shall apply to systems using these also. 1.4.4 DSs should give the following information in a prominent position:- WARNING “Care should be taken when handling small diameter opti

9、cal fibre, to prevent it puncturing the skin especially in the eye area. Direct viewing of the end of an optical fibre or a terminated optical fibre, while it is propagating energy is not recommended unless prior assurance has been obtained as to the safe energy of the output level.“ 1.5 Marking See

10、 2.6 of EN 186 000-1. * # * Page 7 EN 186290: 1997 SECTION TWO - REQUIREMENTS 2. Requirements The requirements specified in Section 2 and Section 3 of EN 186 000-1 apply. The requirements for connector set components covered by this specification are as specified herein and in the relevant OS. 2.1 C

11、lassification The connector sets covered by this specification are classified as:- - TypeMPO - Alignment mechanism: pin - Configurations: plug- adaptor-plug - Coupling mechanism: push-pull Arrangements - Kit - Pigtail - Patch cord Environmental categories The DS written shall select the appropriate

12、BDS for the chosen environmental category. Assessment levels - LevelA - Level B - LevelC The mating face limit dimensions for each connector set configuration are given in Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4. The applicable configuration, arrangement, style, variants, climatic category, environmental category, an

Dimension A is the inner diameter of each pin hole before two guide pins are fixed in the plug. Each pin hole shall accept a gauge pin as shown in Figure 6 to a depth of 5.5 mm w

18、ith a maximum force of 1.7N. In addition, two pin holes of a plug shall accept a gauge as shown in Figure 7 to a depth of 5.5 mm with a maximum force of 3.4N. After the guide pins are fixed in the plug, each guide pin shall be retained with a minimum force of 3.4N. 2. Dimension C is defined as the d

24、ference components, if required, shall be defined in the DS. 2.3 Gauges Additional gauges, if required, shall be defined in the DS. Page 20 EN 186290: 1997 SECTION THREE - QUALITY ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES 3. 3.1 3.1.1 3.1.2 Quality assessment procedures The quality assessment procedures of EN 186 0OO:l

25、 Section 3 apply. Qualification approval Qualification by fixed sample procedure When specified, the fixed sample procedure shall be in accordance with 3.3.1 of EN 186 000: 1. The relevant BDS contains the minimum mandatory test schedules and performance requirements for qualification by the fixed s

26、ample procedure. The complete set of mandatory test schedules and performance requirements shall be specified in the DS. Qualification approval will be granted for the complete range of variants submitted as structurally similar upon successful completion of the tests. Sample size The sample size fo

27、r qualification by fixed sample procedure shall be as specified in the DS. The specimens shall be variants for the smallest fibre core diameter specified in the DS. Following completion of the Group O test, the specimens for the other groups shall be randomly selected from the Group O specimens. In

28、addition, the following specimens shall be provided:- - One specimen of each plug variant to be qualified by structural similarity to the one used for Group O. - One specimen of each adapter variant to be qualified by structural similarity to the one used for Group O. - One specimen of each socket v

29、ariant to be qualified by structural similarity to the one used for Group O. 30、. The fibrekable type and lengths to be used for all arrangements shall be as specified in the DS. 3.1.4 Testing The tests shall be conducted in the order given, using the method specified. The specimens shall satisfy the perfomance requirements of the DS. The additional variant specimens selected s

31、hall be tested to all of the Group O tests and shall meet the requirements of the DS. 3.1.5 Qualification by lot-by-lot and periodic procedure When specified, the lot-by-lot plus periodic qualification procedure shall be in accordance with 3.3.2 of EN 186 000-1. (See 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 for test schedul

32、es). Qualification approval will be granted for the complete range of variants submitted as structurally similar upon successful completion of the tests. 3.2 Quality conformance inspection 3.2.1 Lot-by-lot inspection The minimum mandatory inspection schedules for lot-by-lot inspection are specified

33、in the relevant BDS. The complete set of mandatory test schedules and performance requirements shall be specified in the DS. 3.2.2 Periodic inspection The minimum mandatory periodic test schedules are specified in the relevant BDS. The complete set of mandatory test schedules and performance require

34、ments shall be specified in the DS. 35、ple size for periodic inspection shall be as specified in the DS, The specimens shall be complete connector sets of a variant for the smallest fibre core diameter specified in the DS. 3.2.4 Preparation of specimens Test specimens for kit arrangements shall be terminated using the smallest fibre core

36、 diameter specified in the DS. The fibrekable type and lengths to be used for all arrangements shall be as specified in the DS. 3.2.5 Testing The tests shall be conducted in the order given, using the method specified. The specimens shall satisfy the performance requirements of the DS. The additiona

37、l variant specimens selected shall be tested to all of the Group CO or DO tests and shall meet the requirements of the DS. 3.3 Delayed deliveries The Delayed Delivery inspection period for components covered by this specification is 12 months. The re-inspection plan shall be in accordance with 3.6 o
