The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical c
21、ommittees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with t

25、ion (ISO 7998: 1984), which has been technically revised. iv EN ISO 7998:2005 Introduction Spectacle frames and parts thereof are articles of international commerce which are produced in large numbers. For this reason, there is a need to specify the terms used in different languages to describe spec
26、tacle frames and their parts, in order to facilitate mutual understanding and to avoid the use of inappropriate or incorrect terms. This International Standard includes terms relating to the measuring system for spectacle frames and terms relating to formers. At the time of publication of this stand
27、ard, the terms here relating to the measuring system and formers are identical to those in ISO 8624:2002 and ISO 11380:1994. If, due to future revision, there should be a disagreement between ISO 7998 and ISO 8624 or ISO 11380, then the definitions in the latest version of ISO 8624 or ISO 11380 take

29、 Spanish, American English, Japanese (with phonetic transcription) and Chinese for parts of such frames. It is not applicable to goggles. NOTE 1 In addition to the terms used in the three official ISO languages (English, French and Russian), this International Standard gives the equivalent terms in
