2、tion This method determines the amount an automotive electrical cable shrinks after being subjected to high heat. Apparatus Required Temperature Cabinet Capable of mai ntaining 150 +/ - 5 C with forced ventilation Measuring Device Accurate to at least 1.0 mm Conditioning and Test Conditions All test

3、 values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relat ive humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Prepare a test specimen as required by the rel

4、evant Engineering Materials Specification. 2. Measure insulation length of t he test specimen at 23 +/ - 2 C immediately before placing it in the temperature cabinet (L1). 3. The specimen is to be kept for 15 minutes at 150 +/ - 5 C in a horizontal position in the temperature cabinet. Air is to have

5、 free access to specimen from a ll sides. 4. Remove the specimen from the temperature cabinet and cool down to 23 +/ - 2 C. 5. Measure the length of the test specimen insulation (L2) and calculate the percent shrinkage as follows: % shrinkage = L1 - L2 x 100 L1 Where: L1 = initia l insulation length L2 = final insulation length 6. Report the percent shrinkage. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handli ng in its facilities.
