This helps ensure samples and parts are representative of behavior in vehicles. This period of time of air exposure is as follows: Part is manufactured in China

16、 for vehicles sold in China 7-14 days air exposure Part is manufactured anywhere else 14-28 days air exposure The following points should be observed during the time of exposure to air: Temperature should not exceed 25 C Normal atmospheric pressures and humidities should be maintained Parts/Samples

17、should not be exposed to air in contaminated locations or locations with poor air quality Maximize the exposed area of the parts during air exposure (i.e. plaques should not be stacked but stored such that face and back sides are not in direct contact with other plaques) All parts or samples should

For wrapping/bagging one of the following should be used: heat sealed polyethylene (PE) bags clean plastic wrap foil (PE or PP) PE coated aluminum bags or aluminum foil Beginning and end date of a

Evaluating the Odor: The assessors should be selected from staff who do not work in the production facility. Heavy smokers, us

29、ers of strong perfumes, or people with sinus problems are not suitable. All assessors must be aware of any risk assessment documents and Toxicology reports of all submitted components, which should be readily available, if requested. Acceptance tests shall be made by a minimum of five assessors. If

30、the rating of individual tests differs by more than two points, three additional assessors shall be used to retest the sample. The test must be conducted in an environment free from drafts and contaminant odors. The lid should be removed and the assessors nose should be positioned about 5 cm over th

Record the appropriate rating (refer to “Rating Scale“). If the assessor gives a rating which would be cla

The person conducting the Odor Test should not allow the assessors to view any previous ratings or comments in any way. 5. Repeat Step 4 for each assessor and each sample. 6. The odor rating is indicated by the arithmetic m

To ensure that odor differentiation can be established by the assessors, all conditions being tested shall be conducted in the same time frame. For all the variants and conditions, the odor evaluation use

35、tly disturbing Rating 4 disturbing Rating 4.5 intense and disturbing Rating 5 strongly disturbing Rating 5.5 very intense, disturbing Rating 6 extremely disturbing The definition of a disturbing odor is one that would be considered inappropriate for a new car smell. The smell of a component/ materia

36、l is defined as disturbing, not when it is more concentrated, but rather when it transitions from one acceptable odor to another unacceptable odor upon conditioning. The concentrated odor of hot plastic, hot rubber, hot leather, etc. would not qualify as a disturbing odor. A disturbing odor or inapp
