、itions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a control led atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Test Panel Preparation 1. Cut or shear test
、panels 150 x 150 mm from the as - received c oil. Samples are to be taken from a location equally distant from the coil edges and a sufficient distance from the coil end to ensure a scratch -free surface. 2. Clean test panels as follows: a. Immerse panels into the boiling (70 - 77 C) chamber of th e
、 degreaser containing 1 - 1 - 1 trichloroethane for 15 - 20 s. b. Transfer to rinse zone (52 - 57 C) for 10 - 15 s. This zone is to be continuously replenished with clean solvent distillate. 3. Tape cut edges of panels with acetate fiber tape. Double tape in areas of battery clip gripping. Procedure
、 1. Fill rectangular Pyrex jars with distilled water and adjust pH (6 - 6.5) by the addition of hydrochloric acid. Place Pyrex jars into the temperature controller containing tap water regulated to a temperat ure of 90 - 98 C. 2. Suspend panels into distilled water using glass rods and Mueller Clips
、. Allow panels to hang undisturbed with approximately 25 mm separation between panels. 3. At the end of 6 h immersion at 90 - 98 C, remove test panels. Blot dr y with paper towels. 4. Using the 1 inch square template and the unaided eye count the number of rust spots in 3 areas showing the greatest
、indication of rust and obtain an average count. Edge spots are counted as half a spot. 5. Report as required in t he Engineering Material Specification. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
