7、 Pan, Raised Countersunk and Flat Countersunk Head Products A. 1 RECESS PENETRATION GAUGING. The penetration depth of the gauge shall be measured from the reference plane by using a dial gauge. NOTE 1. The penetration depth of the depth gauge (minimum and maximum dimension) is indicated in Tables A
8、1, A2 and A3 of this appendix. It is the test dimension for the usability of the cross recess. A typical recess penetration gauge is shown below. NOTE 2. The point of the gauge is shown in Fi,oure A7 for recess type Z. A sleeve serves to guide and fix the reference plane. This plane passes through t
9、he point of intersection of the recess wings and the top surface of the screw head. It corresponds thus to the surface of a screw with flat head. In case of crowned screw heads, it lies below the crown in the transition area from the recess wings to the surface of the head. For these screw heads, th
10、e reference plane is fixed with the help of the bearing surfaces of the gauge sleeve. Figure A6.
