SCOPE The material defined by this specification is 25 mm long glass fiber/bubble reinforced filled unsaturated polyester (UP) sheet molding compound. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used for
3、 painted class A body components such as hoods or deck-lids to reduce weight. 2.1 Material is unlikely to contain UV stabilizers, therefore long term exposure to direct sunlight if left unpainted could cause chalking and loss of gloss. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 APPROVED SOURCES This specification requires
4、 the use of approved sources. Only the sources identified on the Ford Approved Source List (ASL) can be used when this specification is listed on the drawing, CAD file, or other documents. The list of approved sources is located within Ford at or available externally through a Ford Materials Engine
5、er. 3.1.1 This specification is based on virgin material and does not allow the addition of recycled content (PIR/PCR). 3.1.2 Materials requiring high strain rate, creep or fiber oriented tensile modulus may be required to test to the requirements of WSS-M99D68-A1/Latest, Thermoplastic Property Dete
6、rmination For CAE, High Strain Rate Tensile, Creep and Tensile Modulus. Testing of the material should occur in the co
10、nditioning environment or soon after removal. 3.2 MOLDED TEST SPECIMEN 3.2.1 Preparation of Test Specimens All test specimens shall be prepared from cross-ply molded plaques or equivalent. The plaques are to be manufactured from the same material and under equivalent conditions as production parts.
11、The plaques shall have the following dimensions: 300 x 300 mm, min x 2.5 +/- 0.2 mm Prepared specimens must show no evidence of fiber tear or loose strands protruding from the specimens.
