、GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology EDS Engineering, GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology Standards METHOD OF INDICATING SECTIONS Do Not Use on New Programs. Being Replaced by Global Design Standards EDS-A-1015 ISSUED DATE: 1996. 04. 10 REVISED DATE: 2008. 05. 31 VERSION: 3 (Superceded) EDS-A-1015METHOD OF INDICATIN

、G SECTIONS PAGE: 1/7 ISSUED DATE: 1996. 04. 10 REVISED DATE: 2008. 05. 31 VERSION: 3 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology Note: This standard may be applied only for current project drawings generated by CATIA. It is Superceded for all future projects and replaced by Global Design Standards. 1. PURPOSE This

、standard aims at correctly representing inside specifications of parts by sections. 2. SCOPE This standard applies to indication of sections on product drawings in GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology Company (hereinafter referred to as the “GMDAT“). 3. INDICATION OF SECTIONS Sections are indicated in cases

、the inside structure of the part is not described clearly by points and lines of outside projection. 3.1. Sections shall be represented by the plane cut at the datum center line in principle (Fig.1). The cutting line shall not be indicated. Fig.1. Full section 3.2. When the object is symmetric with

、respect to the vertical or horizontal center line, both the outer shape and section may be indicated together (Fig.2). Fig.2. Half section EDS-A-1015METHOD OF INDICATING SECTIONS PAGE: 2/7 ISSUED DATE: 1996. 04. 10 REVISED DATE: 2008. 05. 31 VERSION: 3 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology 3.3. Sections may b

、e cut in a position other than the datum center line, when required In this case, the position cut by the cutting line shall be indicated (Fig. 3). When letters are entered to indicate cutting position, they shall be written horizontally regardless of the direction of the portion(Fig. 5). Fig.3. Sec

、tion cut in a position other than datum center line 3.4. Sections may be cut in a stair shape, not in a straight line (Fig. 4). In this case, the position cut by the cutting line shall be indicated. The bent portion shall be represented by a thick solid line. Fig.4. Stair shape section 3.5. When an

、object is symmetric or near symmetric, the one side of it may be cut parallel to the projected surface and the other cut in the direction forming an angle with respect to the projected surface with the center line as the border. In this case, the latter section is represented being rotated to the pr

、ojected surface by that angle, and the bent portion is represented by a thick solid line to show the bent portion (Fig. 5, 6, 7). Fig.5. Rotated section Fig.6. 10、Auto & Technology Fig.7. Rotated section 3.6. When bent sections like pipes are represented, the section may be cut along the bent line (Fig. 8). Fig.8. Section of bent pipe 3.7. When required, sections in Fig. 7 may be combined (Fig. 9). When an object cannot be represented by a single section, oth

、er sections may be added (Fig. 10, 11). 3.8. When required, only a partial section of an object may be indicated. In this case the broken portion is indicated by a break line (Fig. 12. Fig.9. Combination of several sections EDS-A-1015METHOD OF INDICATING SECTIONS PAGE: 4/7 ISSUED DATE: 1996. 04. 10

In principle, shafts, pins, bolts, nu

、ts, washers, cap screws, set screws, rivets, keys, tapers pins, ribs, arms of wheels, gear tooth, etc. shall not be cut in the longitudinal direction (Fig. 12). Fig.12. Parts not being cut 3.10. Section of steering wheels or arms of wheels, ribs, hook and shafts may be indicated in the cut portion o

、N: 3 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology Fig. 15 Fig. 16 3.11. When the section to be drawn is thin as in gasket, thin plate and section steel, it may be indicated by a thick solid line. When such sections are adjacent to each other, some space shall be provided between the lines indicating them (Fig. 17).

、Fig. 17 3.12. When several overlapped sections of the thin plate are indicated, the datum line is represented by a thin solid line and the end of the section is drawn as in Fig. 18. Fig. 18 3.13. Hatching is provided to sections if required. EDS-A-1015METHOD OF INDICATING SECTIONS PAGE: 7/7 ISSUED D

、ATE: 1996. 04. 10 REVISED DATE: 2008. 05. 31 VERSION: 3 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology 3.14. In providing hatching to sections, it shall be drawn by thin solid lines of the same spacing inclined 45 to the datum center line. Hatching of the adjacent section shall be provided by changing the direction or

、 angle of the lines or the spacing (Fig. 20). In case it is difficult to discern 45 inclined hatching, it may be drawn horizontally, vertically or at any angle (Fig. 20). 3.15. In case the material needs to be indicated for non-metallic material sections, the indication method in Fig. 21 shall be fo

、llowed regardless of the stipulation in clause 2.14. In this case, material shall be separately entered in the part drawing. It may be followed in indicating the outer shape.
