、 WORLDWIDE ENGINEERING STANDARDS Material Specification GMW16737 Grease, Silicone Copyright 2012 General Motors Company All Rights Reserved August 2012 Originating Department: North American Engineering Standards Page 1 of 5 1 Scope 1.1 Material Description. This specification defines grease compose
、d of silicone oil and inorganic thickening agents (amorphous silica, lithium soap, or polytetrafluoroethylene). 1.2 Symbols. Not applicable. 1.3 Typical Applications. Grease defined by this specification may be used on cable connectors, battery terminals, dashboard gauges, rubber door seals, window
、regulator assemblies, brake calipers, ball joints, cables (trunk/tailgate, accelerator, hood, parking brake), gearshift controls, fuel filler lock doors, air conditioning (A/C) systems, headrests, and as plastic and elastomers assembly aids. 1.4 Remarks. Silicone grease is suitable for use with most
、 plastics and elastomers. However, this grease should not be used with components made of silicone rubber. This grease will also slightly swell butyl rubber. Consult a materials compatibility chart for specific information. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless

Grease type, thickener type, and consistency are defined using the following nomenclature: 3XY#, where: 3 means silicone oil-based grease. XY are letters designating thickener types shown in 3.1.2.1. # is
、a number from one to three (1 to 3) indicating National Lubricating Grease Institute (NLGI) consistency. (Example: 3ST2 is silicone oil-based grease, amorphous silica thickener, NLGI consistency 2.) 4 Manufacturing Process Not applicable. 5 Rules and Regulations 5.1 Legal Regulations. All materials
