Change Notice: Replaced “International Truck and Engine Corporation” with “Navistar, Inc.” per corporate directive. 1.0 SCOPE This is a method for evaluating the ability of a paint to withstand degradation after prolonged storage in pressurized containers. 2.0 APPARATUS 2.1 Mechanic
5、al small can shaker, Red Devil or equivalent 2.2 Recirculating oven capable of maintaining a temperature of 60 + 3C (140 + 5F). 3.0 MATERIAL Bonderite CD-10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated steel panel, 100 x 300 mm (4 x 12 inches), available from Advanced Coatings Technologies, Inc., 273 Industrial
6、 Drive, Hillsdale, Michigan 49242. 4.0 PROCEDURE 4.1 Spray two panels according to ”Panel Preparation” procedure as outlined in Test Method GT-13, Panel Preparation, Method J, using a new pressurized can for each panel. 4.2 After spray application, store a used and unused can in an upright position
7、and the other used and unused can in an inverted position for 21 days at 60C (140F). 4.3 At the end of this period, cool the cans to room temperature 21 to 27C (70 to 80F). 4.4 Shake can vigorously up and down and in rotary motion for 3 minutes by hand. 4.5 Using the application techniques outlined
8、in Test Method GT-13, Panel Preparation, Method J, spray one panel from each can of test sample observing the spray characteristics. Any sputtering, orifice plugging or irregular spray output will be considered a failure. 4.6 Compare the panels from step (5) with the original panels from step (1). A
9、ny change of color or texture or evidence of resin/pigment separation will be considered a failure. 5.0 REPORT Report pass or fail.
