Replaced International Truck and Engine Corporation with Navistar, Inc. per corporate directive. GENERAL: This specification contains the essentials of the following st

4、andards: International Organization for Standardization: ISO 68, R262, R272, R288, R898/II, R898/III, DR952, and 965/II Association of French Standards: NF E27-414 German Institute of Standardization: DIN 935 Inch series slotted nuts may be found in ESP-E-6.201-NPP. SQUARENESS (ANGULARITY): The axis

5、 of the thread of the nut will be square to the face of the nut subject to the squareness tolerance given in the table on the last page. ECCENTRICITY: The eccentricity of the hexagon flats of nuts relative to the thread diameter will not exceed the values given in the dimensional table in the table

6、on the last page. CQRNER CHAMFER: Nuts without a washer face will have a chamfer of 30 degrees on both faces. The bearing surface will also be countersunk at an included angle of 120 degrees of the thread. The diameter of the countersink will not exceed the nominal major diameter of the thread plus

7、0.13 mm up to and including 12 mm diameter, and plus 0.25 mm above 12 mm diameter. SLOT BASE: The base of slot will be round, radiused or chamfered at manufacturers option. BEARING SURFACE: The bearing surface will be flat, free from tool marks and burrs. The diameter of the bearing surface or washe

8、r face will be 95 percent of the width across flats within a tolerance of plus or minus 5 percent. The property class will be approximately marked by either of the following methods: 1. The property class symbol indente

12、d into the bearing face of the nut. 2. The property class indicated by means of a clock face system which will be marked preferably on the external chamfers of the nut by indenting or embossing. Embossed marks will in no case protrude beyond the bearing face of the nut. The clock face system may alt

13、ernatively be indented in the bearing face of the nut. MATERIAL: Steel, Class 8 and Class 10, per CEMS A-31, Part II. Nuts may be produced by cold forging, hot forming, or by turning from bar. MECHANICAL PROPERTIES: The property class designation system for steel nuts will be a number which is one-h

14、undredth of the approximate proof load stress in megapascals (MPa). The proof load stress corresponds to the minimum tensile strength of the highest class of bolt or screw with which the nut can be used. 15、040 Nuts will meet the proof load requirements for property class 8.8 bolts as shown in ESP-BM-1.001-GI.
