4、use. 1.0 APPLICATION Five grades of engine oil are covered by this specification. These grades may also be merchandized under the Fleetrite brand name. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the engineering requirements for oils used in the diesel engines of Navistar products. 2.1 Restricted Chemical S
5、ubstances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 10、ge 2 of 6 4.0 REQUIREMENTS Material purchased to this specification will conform to the requirements for each type as shown in Table 1. Oils supplied to the requirements of this specification shall consist of suitable refined petroleum base stocks compounded with such functional additives as are nec
11、essary to meet the specified requirements. Re-refined base stocks may be used provided that all other property and performance requirements are met. Material and workmanship shall be in accordance with recognized good commercial practices. The material shall be suitable for the use intended, be free
12、 of visible water, and have no objectionable odor. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and any references cited herein, the text of this specification shall take precedence. 4.1 Oil Performance Requirements Candidate oils supplied to the requirements of this specificati
13、on shall be evaluated by engine tests conducted on properly referenced test stands at calibrated engine testing laboratories as determined by the ASTM Test Monitoring Center. 15、mance of the candidate oil as measured by these tests shall meet or exceed limits listed in SAE J183, Engine Oil Performance and Engine Service Classification (other than energy conserving), for the API engine service categories designated for that NAVISTAR Oil Grade. 4.1.1.1 Note: Extrapolation or
16、read-across of results from engine performance and/or shear stability tests conducted on formulations containing substantially similar additive treatments, and/or viscosity grades, may be considered acceptable on an individual basis. All differences between the viscosity grades may be considered on
17、an individual basis. All differences between the formulations actually tested and the candidate oil must be fully explained in writing. 4.2 Special Performance Requirements 4.2.1 Navistar Performance Test A sample of the candidate oil will be required by Navistar Engine Engineering for evaluation in
18、 engine tests using International Standard Procedure T-11.03-1, and/or shear stability tests. As an alternative, Southwest Research Institute, 6220 Culebra Road, P.O. 28、plier. 5.0 QUALIFICATION Suppliers wishing to qualify a candidate oil(s) to the requirements of this specification shall furnish to Materials Lab, Materials Engineering, 10400 W. North Ave., Melrose Park, Illinois, the following items: 5.1 A 3.8 liter sample of the candidate oil (Note: a separate oi
29、l sample is required for each NAVISTAR oil grade). 5.2 A Safety Data Sheet(s) (SDS) as per CFR Title 29, Part 1910. 5.3 A Formulation of the candidate oil (for each NAVISTAR Grade) including sources and concentrations of all base stocks, additives and/or additive packages. 5.4 Identification of the
30、candidate oil by a distinctive formulation number, in addition to identification by any applicable brand names and/or product codes. 5.5 Complete physical and chemical properties of the candidate oil. 5.6 A summary of the oil performance-engine test results listing all of the primary performance cri
31、teria for the applicable API engine service classifications. In addition, upon request, one copy of the test report for any or all of the applicable engine tests shall also be furnished. 5.7 Results of the shear stability tests of the candidate oil for each of the NAVISTAR Oil Grades. 5.8 A certific
32、ation by the supplier that the candidate oil meets all requirements of this specification. 5.9 Factory fill engine oils provide certification that the candidate oil is qualified to the appropriate Cummins engine oil specification: CES 20086 for CK-4 and CES 20087 for FA-4. 5.10 API CK-4 Oils: Certif
33、ication that the candidate oil is qualified to Volvo VDS-4.5, Mack EOS-4.5, CAT ECF-3, Cummins Inc. CES 20086, and Detroit Diesel Corporation PGOS 93K222. This qualification is mandatory for engine oils that meet API service category CK-4 and will be merchandized under the FLEETRITE trademark. The s
34、upplier may submit additional evidence (for example: Fleet test data) that the candidate oil is suitable for its intended purpose. 5.11 API FA-4 Oils: Certification that the candidate oil is qualified to Cummins Inc. CES 20087 and Detroit Diesel Corporation PGOS 93K223. This qualification is mandato
35、ry for engine oils that meet API service category FA-4 and will be merchandized under the FLEETRITE trademark. The supplier may submit additional evidence (for example: Fleet test data) that the candidate oil is suitable for its intended purpose. 6.0 METHODS OF TESTS 6.1 Navistar Standards and Speci

40、ARCH 2018 Page 5 of 6 6.7 Federal Test Methods (FTM) are available from General Services Administration, Business Service Center, Region 3, 7th and D Streets, Washington, DC 20025. 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are subject to the requirem
41、ents defined in ISQ-001-QM- NAVISTAR Integrated Supplier Quality Requirements. Suppliers must be compliant with ISO 9001 or TS 16949 and fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and all approval requirements as indicated in NAVISTAR ISQ-001-QM. 7.2 Approval Parts suppli
42、ed against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing
43、 practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Integrated Supplier Quality (ISQ) of the proposed change(s) by contacting their Navistar Supplier Quality representative or sending an email to ISQ. Test data indicating conformance to all re
44、quirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated SDS Safety Data Sheet(s) (formerly MSDS) in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910, shall be submitted with the request for change. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on spec
45、ific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTA
46、R plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 6.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted

48、e NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard EDS-A16 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Supplier Packing and Shipping Standard D-13. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the appearance of the part. 8.1 When del
49、ivered in bulk quantities each shipment shall be accompanied by a certificate of conformance to the requirements of this specification and will include the NAVISTAR grade designation, the name of the supplier, formula or formulation number, batch number, and date of manufacture.
