5、vers general requirements for ethylene glycol base antifreeze solutions suitable for factory fill of cooling systems in Navistar products utilizing gasoline engines, and also for sale under the DEX-COOL trademark. 2.0 SCOPE The specification covers coolant used in factory fill for gasoline engines.
6、This coolant is also merchandised by the Navistar Parts Marketing Operation. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless

9、s a long life ethylene glycol based coolant, with organic additives, for use in gasoline engines. 5.0 REQUIREMENTS Material purchased to this specification will conform to the requirements shown in Table 1, ASTM D3306, GM6277M, and Ford WSS-M97B44-D. 5.1 Compatibility: Mixture in any concentration w
10、ith other products found satisfactory under this specification will not adversely affect the performance unless the engine or owners manual states otherwise. 12、sed to this specification will be substantially free from suspended matter and will not have an objectionable odor. 5.3 Storage: Material supplied to the requirements of this specification will have a minimum storage life of one year. 6.0 QUALITY Products purchased under this specification will be e
13、thylene glycol base antifreezes suitable for the use intended. Suppliers will qualify their products for use in all parts of the country in which they are intended to be sold. 6.1 Dilution: 6.1.1 Aftermarket Product: Water used to dilute the coolant system will be fully deionized or distilled. 6.1.2
14、 Production Product: Water used to dilute the coolant system will be fully deionized or distilled, unless otherwise approved by the Quality Control Department of the using Plant, Materials Engineering, and by the vendor. 7.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in advance o
15、f production shipments. When requested by Purchasing & Logistics, the supplier will furnish samples to Materials Engineering for engineering qualification which includes approval by the controlling engineering departments, including performance tests as required. Material submitted for qualification
16、 will be accompanied by detailed test information and also by certification that the material meets all requirements of this specification. 7.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between
17、NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control.* * Other characteristics for inclusion in the control plan may be specified on the engineering dra

20、TROL 9.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request.
23、9.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in materia
24、l, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, t
25、est samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 9.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9
26、001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and repor
27、ting requirements on specific products. 10.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the appearance of the part. 10.1 Bulk Delivery: When delive
28、red in bulk quantities, the container in which the material is shipped will be marked clearly with the following information: designation, name of supplier, formula number or code and batch number. The markings will be at least 1 inch (25mm) high. 10.2 Retail Packaging: When packing in small contain
29、ers for retail sale, containers will be approved by the Parts Marketing Division of the Parts Operation.
