The illustrations shown herein are for the convenience of identifi- cation and are not intended to preclude the pur
12、chase of holders which are otherwise in accordance with the requirements of this specification. 3.2 Materials. Materials shall be as spec- ified herein. Materials. not definitely spec- ified shall be of the best quality used for this purpose in commercial practice. 3.3 Design and, construction. Shee
13、t hold- ers covered by this specification shall be of the sprng,tension type. Type I, hole-grip holders, shall have two moving prongs op- .erating with a fixed pin in such a manner ithat the prongs are expanded by spring ten- sion in order to insure proper alignment, When the holder is inserted into
14、 corres- ponding holes in two or more sheets, the .sheets shall be held together securely. The type II, edge-grip holder, shall have two parallel jaws which clamp the edges of the sheets together by means of spring ten- ,sion. The type III, hole grip, shall be a ,hand-operated wingnut, all purpose f
15、asten- er for use with heavier materials where more pressure- is required. 3.4 Springs. The springs shall be of good ;quality steel and properly heat treated to mithstand the impofied loads. The force ex- erted by the spring shall be as specified in table I. .I 3.5 Safety. The sheet holders shall be
16、 so constructed that they will not spring apart with force and cause injury to operator due to possible failure of any part of holder. 3.5.1 Swaging. The method of a swaging . operation in the final assembly of type I, class 2 forceps-operated holder, shall be of such construction that constant use
17、of the sheet holder shall not allow the swaged part to cut through the spring-retaining cup during normal usage and allow disassem- bly of the sheet holder. Holders shall meet saDety test requirements of 4.4.3. 3.6 Marking. Unless otherwise specified, each holder shall be permanently and legi- bly m
18、arked with the manufacturers name or trademark. 3.7 Finish. The finish shall be as specified in tables II through V. 3.8 Inteiichangeability. All parts having the same manufacturers part number shall be directly and completely interchangeable with each other with respect to installation and perf orm
19、ance. 3.9 Type I, hole-grip sheet holder. Type Y, hold-grip sheet holders, shall be of the spring-tension, fully enclosed safety type. 3.9.1 Class 2, forceps-operated. The class 2, hole-grip sheet holder, shall be so con- structed that it is capable of being operat- ed by means of forceps conforming
20、 to GGG- F-570. The holder shall be substantially as shown on figure 1, and shall comply with the requirements of table II. The style of hold- er to be furnished shall be at the option of the contractor. Holders shall be furnished with either a O to 1/4 or O to 112 inch mate- rial-holding capacity a

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVI- SIONS 4.1 Unless otherwise
36、 specified in the con- tract or purchase order, the supplier is re- sponsible for the performance of all inspec- tion requirements as specified herein. Ex- cept as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own or any other inspection facilities and services acceptable to the Gov- ernment. Th
37、e Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspec- tions are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conf om to prescribed requirements. O 4.2 Samding for lot acceDtance. 4.2.3 Sampling for lot acceptance tests. A random
38、sample of sheet holders shall be taken from each lot in accordance with MIE STD-105 at inspection level S-3. The AQL shall be 1.0 percent defective. Each of the sample sheet holders shall be tested in ac- cordance with 4.4.1, 4.4.2, and 4.4.3, as ap- plicable, to verify conformance with this specifi
39、cation, 4.3 Examination. 4.3.1 Visual and dimensional examination. Each of the sample sheet holders taken in accordance with 4.2.2 shall be visually and dimensionally examined to determine con- - formance with this specification. 45、iance with the clamping force requirements spec- ified in table I. 4.4.2 Holding test. 4.4.2.1 Hole-grip holders. The hole-grip types of sheet holders shall be tested for holding quality by inserting the holders in- to holes provided in sheet metal. The size of holes shall be the largest hole specif
46、ied in table II for the holder being tested. With the holders inserted in the holes, they shall not come loose or fall out when struck a light blow with the hand at a sidewise pu- sition. .4.4.2.2 Edge-grip holders. The edge grip of sheet holders shall be tested for holding quality by clamping two p
47、ieces of metal 0.064 inch thick. A spring-pressure pull shall be applied to each holder in the same plane as that of the metal which is being held. The holder shall be not less than 10 pounds. , - _. . , 4.4.3 Safetu test for typeI, class 2 ho- drs. The points- of - each holder selected for test sha
48、ll be projected though a hole in a sheet of metai 3/16 ihch thick andthen hela securely between the cpttirig jaws of a plier or nipper. With the holder in the clamped position, pressure shall be applied to the handles of the plier or nipper until the points are severed. Theholder shall not fly away
49、with a force that would injure the operator in any way and the holder shall remain in- tact. 4.4.4 Possible test faiiures. Possible test failures are defined as follows: 1. Spring-tension test: (a) Failure of springs to comply with requirements. 2. Holding test: (a) Sheet holders fail to hold properly when tested as spec- ified. 3. Safety test (type I, class 2 only): (a) Holder flies awa
