CAB shall be a product of esterification from newly purified cellulose. No reworked (material which previously did not meet requirements
14、 and was reprocessed) material shall be used in the production of the CAB. The CAE3 shall conform to the requirements given in this detailed specification. - 3.1.1 Chemical and physical properties of type I. The chemical and physical properties of Type 1 CAB shall conform with Table I when tested in
15、 accordance with the applicable test paragraph . A vehicle containing 10 percent of CAB and 90 percent acetone, conforming to specification O-A-51, by weight shall exhibit no gelatio
17、n after standing for 15 hours for the bronzing test as determined in accordance with 4.5.11. 3.1.1.2 Stability of type I CAB. 3.1.1.2.1 Boilinq water. The CAB when boiled in water for 7 hours, shall not show an increase in acidity of more than 0.10 percent calculated as acetic acid as determined in
18、accordance with 4.5.12. be any darker than a light tan, when heated at 190C (374OF) for 1 hour, as determined in accordance with 4.5.12. 3.1.1.2.2 Heat. The CAB shall not darken in spots, melt, or 3.1.1.3 Solubility of type I CAB. 3.1.1.3.1 Ethylene dichloride. A solution containing 12 parts of CAB
19、to 88 parts of ethylene dichloride by weight, shall be clear and smooth after agitation for 16 hours, as determined in accordance with 4.5.13. 4 3 -. 20、least 95 percent solubility when 1/10 gram is added to a mixture of 5 ml of acetone and 3 ml o ethyl alcohol, in accordance with Specification 0-A-396, and less than 70 percent solubility when 1/10 gram is added to a mixture of 5 ml of acetone and 8 ml o ethyl alcohol, at a temperature of 25OC (77OF
21、) , as determined in accordance with 4.5.13. 3.1.1,4 Color of type I CAB . A solution containing one part o CA3 to four parts acetone by weight shall exhibit a color value less than a standard No. 4 Hasen solution, as determined in accordance with 4.5.11. 3.1.1.5 Clarity of type I ,CAB . A solution
22、containing one part CAB to nine parts acetone by weight shall have a haze value of not: more than 11.5 percent when determined as specified in 4.5.14. 3.1.2 Chemical and physical properties fortype II. The molecular weight distribution of the CAB shall be determined as tested in accordance with

QUALITY ASSURANcE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase ord
28、er, the contractor is responsible for the Berformance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The
29、Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5
30、. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies suhni
31、tted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling i-n quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to Except as otherwise specified in the contract acceptance af

Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall suhit a first article sa
33、mple as designated by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in accordance with provisions of 4.3.2. The first article sample shall be 3 1bs of CAB. The sample shall be obtained from the first production lot which has been produced by the contractor using the same production processes, procedures, a
34、nd equipnent as will be used in fulfilling the contract. All materials shall be obtained frm.the same sources of supply as will be used in regular production. may be subjected by the Government to any or all of the examina- tions or tests specified herein in this detail specification. 4.3.2 Inspecti

36、quirements, the lot shall be rejected. The Government reserves the right to terminate its inspection uwn any failure of a sample to comply with any of the s t at e d r e qui r eme n ts . ( S e e MIL -A -4 80 7 8) 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. 4.4.L Inspection lot formation. A lot shall consist
37、 of one or more batches of CAB produced by one manufacturer, in accordance with the same specification, or same specification revision, under one continuous set of operating conditions . Each lot shall be a homogeneous product, The lot shall cmply with the provisions for same unit chemical or physic
38、al process intended to make the final submission o product as specified in MIL-A-48078. The criteria and procedure for the assignment of lot numbers shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-116 8. 4.4.2 Samplinq. A representative sample of approximately 3 lbs shall be obtained from each lot being submitt
39、ed for acceptance. Sampling procedures provided in ASTM E 300-73 shall be employed. The sample shall be tested in accordance with procedures given in para. 4.5 to determine compliance with the requirements given in Section 3. If the sample fails to meet any of the test requirements, the lot represen
40、ted by that sample shall be rejected. 4.4.3 Inspction equipnent. For the performance of all tests and examinations specified within, commercial inspection equipnent should be employed. The contractor shall have available, and utilize correctly, this equipment and is charged with the responsi- bil-it
41、y of assuring that proper calibration procedures are followed. Government: approval of all inspection equipent is required prior to its use for acceptance purposes (see 6.3) . 4.5 Methods of inspection. All tests given in this section shall be pez: ormed using prescribed procedures for replicate det
42、ermination given in standard analytical chemistry textbooks or ASTM D 2905-83, Unless otherwise indicated, reagent grade chemicals shall be used in all tests, and they shall conform to the spcifications of the Canmittee on Analytical Reagents of the American Chemical Society. Other grades may be use

The remaining ingredient after subtraction of the aforementioned ingredients shall be only cellulose woodpulp conforming to MIL-C-216B (grade A or B) . 4.5.8 Viscosity determination, seconds. Determine the viscositv of the sample as directed in ASTM Designation: D 817-72 * (1978) , Sections 57 and .58, “Standard Methods of -Testing Cellulose Acetate Propionate and Cellulose Acetate Butyrate“, and ASTM Des
