When an original chemical or mechanical propertytest or a radiographic (RT) or magnetic particle (MT) test, representing alot of material, fails to meet specification requirements,

9、the lot may beretested at the manufacturers discretion. If the manufacturer chooses toretest the lot, the retests shall be as follows: (a) If the test failed due to one (or more) of the conditions listedin 4.4.3.1.1, lot shall be retested according to the requirementsin 4.4.3.1.2.(b) If the test fai

10、led due to conditions other than those listed in4.4.3.1.1, then the lot shall be retested according to therequirements in 4.4.3.1.3. Note that all the specimens in a single test, whether the test involves asingle specimen (such as for RT) or multiple specimens (such as for CVNimpact tests), shall be

11、 considered a set.4.4.3.1.1 Testing/specimen preparation error retests. Retests tocorrect errors in testing and/or test specimen preparation are permittedunder the following conditions:(a) Improperly fabricated test welds. This applies to test weldsthat have not been fabricated in accordance with th

12、e applicablespecification and not fabricated in accordance with the publishedwelding operating ranges for the product under test.(b) Improperly prepared specimens. This applies to test specimensthat are not in compliance with applicable standards.(c) Test equipment malfunction in the process of cond

13、ucting a test.(d) Flaws in test specimens that are not indicative of inferior orProvided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-E-22200/10C(SH)AMENDMENT 13defective product. Flaws at weld starts and stops at the ends ofthe test assembly, lack of

14、fusion at the root and slag due tooperator technique are normal weld artifacts and do not count asflaws indicative of inferior or defective products. Cracks,clustered porosity, flakes, and ruptures are flaws that may beindicative of inferior or defective products and shall notqualify a lot for a tes

15、ting/specimen preparation error retest.4.4.3.1.2 Testing/specimen preparation error retest requirements.Retests for conditions listed in 4.4.3.1.1 shall be as follows:(a) For each original test that failed due to one (or more) of theconditions in 4.4.3.1.1, only one testing/preparation errorretest i

16、s permitted.(b) A testing/preparation error retest shall consist of onereplacement specimen for each specimen that failed due to theconditions in 4.4.3.1.1. For VT, MT and RT, the specimen is theentire weld. If the testing error is due to a malfunction of MTand/or RT equipment or to a flaw not indic

17、ative of inferior ordefective products (see 4.4.3.1.1.d), removed by grinding orother suitable methods within 1/16 inch of the surface, theoriginal test assembly may be retested.(c) Results of all retests and reasons for all retests shall bereported on the certification of quality conformance.(d) Re

18、tests of weld metal (e.g., mechanical properties) shall be fromthe same weld used for the original test, if feasible. Ifreplacement test welds are needed, they shall be fabricated usingconsumables from the original sampling, if feasible. Ifsufficient material is not available from the original sampl

19、ingor storage of an opened package is expected to influence results,another sample may be taken from the same lot and/or productionrun.(e) Retests of product (e.g., diffusible hydrogen, moisture, andchem. pads) shall be from the same sampling as the original test,if feasible. If sufficient material

20、is not available from theoriginal sampling or storage of an opened package is expected toinfluence results, another sample may be taken from the same lotand/or production run.(f) If the results of the testing/preparation error retest do notsatisfy the applicable requirements, then a conformance rete

21、stshall be performed per 4.4.3.1.3.4.4.3.1.3 Conformance retests. Retests for failure to meet testrequirements shall be as follows:(a) For each original test that failed due to conditions other thanthose listed in 4.4.3.1.1, only one conformance retest ispermitted.(b) A conformance retest shall cons

22、ist of repeating the test thatfailed two times (i.e., two-for-one). Note that a mechanicalproperty test such as tensile or impact toughness involves a setof test specimens and therefore two full sets of specimens foreach test that failed are required under this two-for-one rule.(c) Results of all re

Ifa new procedure is used to correct the root cause of the originaltest failure, the re

27、test shall include all tests conducted forthe original weld. Two-for-one is only required for the test thatfailed. All future lots of the material must use the newprocedure. The reason for changing procedure shall be justifiedto the customer and included on the certification.(g) If the results of an
